I struggle to convey my level of disappointment. I am so disappointed because there is SO much potential for this place. BUT the coffee I got was bad. And sadly the service was cold. - Most people are going to like this place and continue to go just because of the location and atmosphere, but if you actually like coffee I think move on elsewhere or make it at home.
The space and location are fantastic! Love that it is dog friendly! Great patio, amble seating! I love that they have do many grab and go breakfast eats and snacks. (I would LOVE to see some locally produced bakery items instead of prepackaged stuff being sold.)
Here's the thing if I wanted a Starbucks experience - I'd go to Starbucks. I was hoping for a local coffee shop experience - and while the space screams that in decor - the coffee, food, and service say otherwise.
I got an iced caramel latte and it was so sweet - too sweet. The actual coffee might have potential if it had been made better. I really hate that they don't make their syrups in house. It tastes so artificial - they are chain so I doubt this will be possible.
Mostly, the people - so cold. The person taking my order was not friendly or welcoming. The vibe behind the counter in general seemed moody. And the coffee was badly made. The whole staff need like a Chick-fil-A level customer service training session.
I'll accept bad service if the coffee is amazing, and I'll put up with mediocre coffee if the service is great - but bad coffee and bad service, not even the decor and location can make...
Read moreI don’t understand how people rate this place so high. The only thing I feel that it has for itself is a nice location and lots of seating outside. The wait times are awful - I waited like 10 minutes just to have my drip coffee. 15 minutes just to get a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich when all they do is stick it in some heating device. I asked for take out and they gave me a ceramic plate.
So the most important thing about a coffee shop is the actual coffee. The coffee tastes stale - worse than Starbucks. The medium roast has barely any flavor and was too bitter.
I imagine that the espresso drinks are bad too - the baristas don’t look trained or use the right tools. They use no distribution techniques so there probably is lots of channeling and don’t even attempt to level the coffee bed before tamping. You can tell that the grind isn’t so great because it comes out very clumpy which means that work on the distribution is more important to focus on.
The pour over I saw was embarrassing - they were filling the entire thing with water creating an immersion which defeats the purpose of a pour over which is to percolate by having water movement through the coffee grounds for a better extraction of flavor.
How was this worth $11? (Not talking about food price but because of the service). I’ll take my...
Read moreReally nice coffee shop, with a lot of attention to the aesthetic details. It’s very comfortable, and the outdoor patio is fantastic. We will frequent this place often, and look forward to them really getting in their groove. The staff are super friendly and the service has been fast and friendly each time we have been. There are a couple little things we noticed that could be improved: it is super loud inside and somewhat hard to have a conversation if a lot of people are there. I’m sure it’s the design of the building, but if anything could be done to dampen the noise, it would be great. We went with friends once who had the breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, those egg sandwiches don’t do well in the microwave. They were heated unevenly, with parts of them being hot and parts being cold, while one side of the muffin was very hard and one side was very soft. It might be better to focus on food that doesn’t need to be served hot. I find the coffee drinks and lattes a little sweet, but I love experimenting with all the flavors. The staff make great suggestions. We are really excited about having a neighborhood coffee shop and it’s had a good amount of people all different times of the day. Next time I’m going to try the cappuccino and some of the...
