Taco John's — Restaurant in Appleton

I miss Dieter. In 25 years of patronage of this location, my family and I have experienced a steady decline in service and attitude. We have a family of 6 and each have our favorite items that we enjoy a specific way. After a visit to the drive thru to get our favorites, the middle aged woman tending the drive thru, had to be corrected a couple times taking the order. What came across as irritation, was the complaint to me (the customer) that I can order all this online. I took the bitter advise and complied to do so in the future. (I have spent decades in customer service type jobs, and have done my best to help those in this line of work... but I too have a limit.) Since switching to online ordering we have had a 48% success rate. Someone in my family has gone without in most meals. The inaccuracy has increased and my patience has decreased. My most recent experience was as such: I placed the order online, arrived to the restaurant at the time I requested. There was an atmosphere of annoyance. I overheard many sighs, saw defeated faces, and there was lackluster service provided. When unpacking our order, we noticed missing items and items not made as specified on the order. I needed to once again decide if I was going to allow someone to go without or address the issue. I addressed the issue by calling the location. I was told I come down and have the missing and incorrectly made items replaced. I returned to the location and was recognized by staff as the person with the order problem. The order was made correct; However, the experience was not corrected. In fact the experience was further damaged as there was still a sulking attitude in abundance. Leadership was either not present or lacked the fortitude to address issues directly and offer an expression of reconciliation to me. I am left to interpret that customer service is dead. Wasn't very busy maybe two cars when was parked and the other was leaving. Food was freshly made. Olies were perfect. Not to much seasoning and were also fresh. Soda carbonation was 💯. Wasn't a single employee just standing around doing nothing. That also was good to see. Cashier was polite and helpful. I'm definitely talk quietly if she couldn't hear me for nothing so she just told me to pull up to the window. Which helped immensely. Probably one of the best meals I had there. Was a chicken soft shell taco with a special sauce and had Pico mild sauce lettuce and cheese. Way to go Emily!! Your employees were nice and helpful. Drive thru was clean snd really like the new sitting area you put in. Funny thing is. I was one of the Managers at Larry's Piggly Wiggly. Best part was none of them knew me and I didn't know them. I'm very honest about customer service and presentation. I've been saying customer service etc since before covid/pandemic started. Has gone down the tubes immensely. Customer service especially. I didn't start eating back out till about a year ago. Like to see people cook my food. Let me see you not wash your hands or use gloves when you make my food. I would not do anything or say anything to embarrass the person but I would pull you to the side and tell you. Your hands are filthy and if you're handling money it's even worse. Your fingernails alone. WHOLE lot of stuff you don't even see. The money part is disgusting. Money actually has bugs/germs all over. I really don't understand the negative reviews I've seen. I've literally been coming to this Taco John's my whole life and I don't think I've ever had a bad experience. The staff and management are amazing, nice, friendly people. The quality of the food is always excellent. Everything is always crisp and fresh. I don't ever feel like I'm being scammed with understuffed burritos. Honestly! Just look at the size of that Double Cheese Chicken Boss Burrito next to the bag!! It's huge! Lol Their drive through is great. Even if there's a big line they keep it moving and you won't be there long. I felt compelled to write this glowing review because there is another Taco Johns closer to my home that I tried going to a few times and each time was unrealistically terrible. One of the employees even called me a dog out of absolutely nowhere. o.o I'm not sure what's wrong with that place but I'll happily drive a city over whenever I need to get my ole fix. Lol Thank you to the employees of this establishment. I've worked fast food before and the people in this profession don't get nearly enough credit. Stay awesome!
