This review is about sustainability!

By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean then fish. And over 95% of the plastic we sent to recycling does not actually get recycled.

So it means a lot to me to be able to find and support local businesses who are doing their part to help customers produce less trash when they consume a delicious coffee.

I love that you offer real, reusable mugs to folks who are staying on the premises. And I love that most of your fridge is filled with glass or aluminum canned beverages. I also love that you provide real cups at the water refill station.

Perhaps I would suggest that you look into selling other water? Perhaps aluminum canned water instead of single used plastic bottled water? And I wonder if there are ways you could be more clearly asking customers if they are staying to enjoy their coffee. That would limit the amount of trash created on site, as seen in the cans.

Thank you for considering my feedback, and thank you for the truly delicious coffee. This place is a must visit for folks stopping through or...

Our family stopped by at the Familia Cafe after our kayaking tour in Big Lagoon. We were a little worried as we walked away from the Arcata Plaza if the coffee shop really exits. Then, the stylish warehouse-like cafe appeared in front of us. There were a few tables and chairs in front of the cafe. My teens had Lavender Honey Latte and I had a latte. Lavender Honey reminded me our visit to Hokkaido's lavender field. Lavender's aroma was soft and not over-powering the coffee. My Latte was the best Latte I had in a while. Definitely the best Latte during this trip. The staff was friendly and kind. I bought Camping Blend to bring back home. They only had a few types of coffee beans by  the Humboldt Bay Coffee Co. to buy. The staff recommended I visit the roaster in Eureka which we could not this time. I highly recommend paying a visit to...

My husband and I visited Familia Cafe on National Dog Day - I loved that they had an interactive thing for customers to draw their pet!! The space was really cool. There was a lot of seating outdoors! I thought the service was quick. I gave it 4 stars in service because I didn't personally think the staff were very friendly or welcoming. They had positive attitudes, but I didn't necessarily feel welcomed! The coffee was good! I got the cafe miel - which I really liked!! My husband got the lavender latte - I think that he liked his but was a little thrown off by the actual lavender flowers in the coffee! I also gave atmosphere 4 stars because a majority of the art was explicit drawings of women. I personally didn't enjoy that part of the atmosphere, but I loved the...

Familia Cafe is an awesome new coffee shop in the Creamery District of Arcata. I’ve been here a few times now and really enjoy their decaf espresso and decaf coffee. I know, I’m a decaf only drinker now. They also have gluten free options. Thank goodness. They usually have a couple of baked goodies. Today I got a gluten free egg sandwich, which was delicious. Only thing I do not like, is it only has outdoor seating, and that outdoor seating is limited. I wish they had indoor seating, as I’d like to study there. Great coffee, great food. Also very nice staff. Go support a new local business!
