Ramone's Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Arcata

As a connoisseur of fine pastry and baked goods I was very disenchanted by Ramone's pastries. They make a good cappuccino and all coffee drinks are created to order and correctly ( they actually know the difference between cappuccino and latte), but their pastries are almost always dry or overcooked, and their icing is disgustingly greasy and has the consistency of cold butter. Not to mention their traditional desserts are created in a very Americanized overly sweet fashion. If you want coffee and have 15 minutes to stand in line, then this is a good choice. Ramone's has some great baked goods and patisserie items. I got the chocolate decadence torte and my wife got the caramel nut tart. The chocolate torte is essentially a base of ganache with a thin raspberry layer then a shell of chocolate over. Absolute chocolate bliss. The caramel nut tart is good as well but needs a big addition of salt to balance the sweetness of the caramel and the blandness of the tart shell. We'll continue to visit Ramone's when we're...

So many choices of goodness at this bakery within the Wildberries market. Everything we selected was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend a stop here to pick up a treat. The staff was wonderful as well and very patient as we tried to pick from all the fabulous assortments of treats they carry. Parking was also easy since it is within the market, which was a bonus with a downtown that can be hard to find street...
