Great farm fresh breakfast! Two perfectly poached eggs with grilled vegetables and a side salad with pickles onions! I absolutely appreciate their commitment to local and organic food! Housemade cashew and almond milks are a gigantic bonus! Skip the espresso drinks here and go for one of their specialty tea latte creations! Good fast service! I would have loved it if the heat was on but it seems all the Arcata shops don’t do much to keep customers warm.

Adding on next visit: You had me at Organic food & dog friendly patio! I’ve ate here multiple times now and every 👏🏼 single 👏🏼 time 👏🏼 it’s on point and delicious. Great service, which is a huge bonus in these times! Farm fresh, organic produce! I LOVE their maca matcha latte, chai latte and the house-made nut milks! The Hash is filling and tasty. I often have one if their daily specials! Go here if you’re hungry, even when it’s crowded, the goes fast and the food is surprisingly quick to be delivered. Love...

Cafe Phoenix has been an Arcata staple for many many years. This women owned cafe is one of the best places to eat in Humboldt. The atmosphere is great and cozy on a rainy winter day and especially nice on the back patio or in the yard while the sun is out. Their food is all organic, and much of it is sourced from local farmers and butchers. The food is good for the gut. And the owner’s recipes are original and tasty. My go-to dishes are the fried rice, the breakfast burrito, many different smoothies, and Phoenix potatoes. Occasionally the potatoes have been burnt and I too have experienced some dishes being over salted like other reviewers have complained about, but that’s not consistent enough to steer you away. The new addition of, Smoked is too recent to give a solid review, but it seems to have potential. Glad we have Cafe Phoenix in our little...

Generous portions, friendly staff, fresh ingredients all combine to win my recommendation for the Cafe Phoenix. I ordered the omelette with the addition of spinach. They are willing to make slight adjustments to the menu items. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover the cook used a nice, flavorful, aged cheddar in the omlette's preparation. My companion enjoyed the Phoenix Classic of "perfectly" poached eggs with veggies, (brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, and the addition of spinach). We noted minimal, if no, use of butter or salt in the preparation of the meals. Cafe Phoenix has a small informal dining area with seating in front of a large picture window where you can watch the world pass by on G street while you eat your meal. The dining area can get pretty noisy when only half full. Not recommend for quiet...

Pros: cute atmosphere, inside and outside seating, flowers, picnic tables in back for groups, great coffee. Cons: relatively expensive, horrible food, poorly trained college staff, no table service. Specifics: I ordered the gluten free breakfast burrito. It was $17. Although it was visually beautiful, the tastes were completely out of balance. Extremely salty to the point of being almost inedible with a strong burnt taste and an occasional blast of excessive garlic. The burrito was also far too large for one person and I'm not a dainty eater. My wife's dish was also so salty she couldn't finish it. So overall, we would not go back, which is too bad because they must have some good dishes based on the other reviews we read. I felt like we just threw $45 out the window.

2/14/25 Came back for more and it was amazing! We tried the tri tip plate which came with fresh green salad, pesto pasta, and cornbread, as well as the loaded baked potato. It was amazing! All of it was cooked to perfection with flavorful sauce and dressing. We will be back, Cafe Phoenix & Smoked Backyard BBQ! :) 1/2015 We have eaten at Cafe Phx many many times and looove their food. Always delicious, fresh, and healthy. This was our first time try Smoked and the riblets were amazing!!! So good that we wanted to order them again tonight but they are closed til the weekend so we will have to wait. They have amazing outdoor patio seating and said they will be getting heaters soon so let the outdoor dinner parties commence! This is something you don’t want to miss!
