We sought this place out in anticipation of replacing a well loved yet long-lost tie-dye hoodie. I was well prepared to purchase one for each person in our party (and an extra for a gift).
Unfortunately, their wearable items were out of stock today. When we attempted to engage the individual behind the counter about the possibility of being able to get them, we deduced that he really did not want to be there. He answered questions with minimal information. He did not offer additional information about how we could obtain one when they did come in. Is there a card? Can I order online? I don't know because all of our questions were answered with 1 or 2 words.
Instead of leaving, we stayed to order drinks. I made the mistake of asking for something blended, which they don't do. I told him instead I'd take a caramel chai, along with 2 other drinks. I wish I'd paid attention to the total in the moment, but I hadn't as in the middle of ringing us up, the transaction was passed off to the lady just coming back from a bathroom break. I didn't realize it was $30 for 3 drinks.
I really enjoy the fact that they use compostable cups and lids. However, please provide sleeves, as the make of the cup allows for severe heat transfer through the cup. (I was slightly miffed that he made my drink so hot after I had just asked for a blended drink 60 seconds before that, but when he asked iced or hot, I said hot, so I literally asked for it).
When my drink finally cooled enough for me to hold, I took a drink only to discover plain chai, no caramel. The rest of my party reported sub-par, less than impressive flavor on their drinks.
I felt that being one of the last places for coffee before a heavily trafficed tourist area that the coffee and customer service should have been higher quality than we experienced.
I'll take a $33 lesson over regretting buying 4 hoodies from someone who only wanted us to leave.
A regrettable stop, for sure.
However, I do wholeheartedly believe that this place is intended to be way cooler than we experienced. (OH, and don't forget the love of environmentally friendly paper...
Read moreI am probably among the oldest customers starting at when the coffee shop was located in the ski rental store. I can't count the number of years and great visits I have had over the decades plus before skiing and hiking. My last visit was Oct 2022. Everything was OK, new remodel, much higher prices and just a different vibe. Bottom line, I had ice tea, Burrito and muffin costing over $23 with tip; and for that I got super over the top RUDE service and totally bad attitude from the Barista/Server. Really nasty ... all I needed was a bit of ice to replace the melted Ice in my Ginger tea and she totally destroyed me for asking. I will never go back after all these years and I can't believe how bad it really can be when all the hard work the owners invest just to be flushed down the toilet by a rude and nasty employee. I am glad Google gives me the chance to share this horrible experience. Bad service, good food really sucks. Update. 2025 returned two times at about 9am to give it another shot. Friendly service but they have an inventory management issue. The bakery goods/bins are 100% empty. Twice they said sorry sold out. So $8.00 with tip for a 16oz mocha and no goodies for the hike. Twice. So I am stopping at Joe's in Maple Falls instead from now on. A great...
Read moreI have always heard great things about this place so I was really excited to stop in yesterday morning for the first time.
We were the only ones there. We went up to the window to browse the menu and weren’t greeted by anyone. I thought, okay it’s pretty early, I’m barely awake myself. I ordered a chai and was promptly cut off with “We’re out”. No apology, no other suggestions. I just ordered a London fog, and was asked if whole milk was okay. I said yes please and then a second later heard “is that okay or not?” In a really short tone. We tried ordering a breakfast burrito without eggs, and she just said “it’s already made.” (Which now reading reviews I see they have a small kitchen and high volume, that’s understandable) But honestly I was pretty taken aback by the service, I actually left in tears because I have social anxiety and the staff was just so unfriendly and the whole interaction just made it seem like we were a nuisance even though no one else was there. Pretty disappointed and unfortunately customer service is a big part of it for me, and I probably won’t...
