This was my first time coming here so I'm only giving this place three stars. The reason being is because it was just the food that I ordered I didn't really like it I ordered the French toast and it was kind of odd. It seemed like they used a baguette type of bread like you would use for garlic bread instead of square bread sandwich bread that is usually used or like a brioche bread. And also it was kind of undercooked because of slices were so thick that they didn't cook it long enough to cook the egg in the center of the bread so that's why I only gave it three stars I really wanted to give it more because this place is just the cutest little cafe. You walk in and there's only about 10 or 15 tables and it's all out in the open it looks like something you would see on a sitcom or something. The server who greeted us her name was Teresa I believe and she was just the nicest person and the most welcoming host in any restaurant that I've been to recently. She was also our server and she was really nice we told her it was our first time and she welcomed us very warmly. The place from what I could tell looked very clean and well kept we sat next to like the way the server station and even the server station was very well clean and well kept in dusted and neatly organized. They have a big window where you can see through the kitchen but I didn't really get a good look to see how clean the kitchen was but if the dining room was clean and pretty sure that the kitchen was clean also. The coffee was excellent by the way. I will be coming back here to order some other stuff just to give them another chance maybe I just caught them on an off day or maybe they ran out of the regular bread that they normally use for french toast I don't know but I will be giving this place another shot. The server Mr Teresa she even learned our names by just looking at a credit card and referring to us by our names thereafter. Kind of like how a very good bartender would be trying to get to know you as soon as possible and getting personal. It did seem from what I could tell that there are a lot of regulars who come here because they were on a first name basis with the servers and I think that's really awesome you don't get that at like Denny's or ihop or anything like that. So the next time I come I will definitely be ordering something different and probably most likely from what I could tell from other reviews changing my rating to a higher rating at that point so stay tuned if you follow me see you...
Read moreMe and my husband went there for lunch. We both ordered a grilled ham and cheese with french fries. My husband's sandwich came with him in it. Mine did not have any ham in it just cheese. I sent it back for them to put him in it. Both my husband and I complained that the cheese was like plastic . It is a very very cheap cheese. It did not even melt. The french fries are shoestring potatoes. There was like 15 of them on the plate for each of us. The waitress brought us our drinks to begin with and then sent someone else every time we needed a refill or to ask us if we needed anything she never waited on us at all just wiping down counters telling the other guy what to do. I was not impressed with the waitress staff at all. I I'm very disappointed in the direction this little cafe has taken. I was a frequent customer for the last 10 years. I am not impressed at all with the new management or the staff at this quaint little restaurant. The meal was so unsatisfactory that we did not even order dessert. Ordering dessert at all whole Cafe is a staple. It is something that you always do because they have the most wonderful homemade pies. We were afraid to try the homemade pies. I do not recommend you go there for lunch. Maybe the breakfast is different I do not know anymore as I have not been there in a year or so. I would rather take the $20 that we spent on the two grilled sandwiches to a different establishment. What a huge huge disappointment as to the direction this...
Read moreI've been eating at Ajo Cafe for decades. Despite the age of the place, you are going to get a tasty, filling meal at a great price. They offer the staples of the working class, a variety of breakfast foods (they open at 6AM) burgers, sandwiches and hot meals like chicken fried steak or meatloaf. My bride had the meatloaf, which she says was flavorful. It was, to her a bit dry, but she did not want the gravy. Her loss. She opted to substitute fries over the mashed potatoes, which were cooked just right. My green Chile burger was excellent, juicy and tasty. Ajo Cafe has made a name for itself with homemade pies. it is always a great way to top off a meal with a slice of cream or fruit pie. They are smooth and extraordinary. This time, I chose the coconut cream, my bride got a pecan. She devoured hers before I could get a pictures, but mine is posted. (I took the pic at home after it suffered the indignity of being rattled in a take-out box, it looks much better on a plate.) YUMMM Now that COVID is mellowing down, seating is better but the crowds are coming back. Ajo Cafe has always been a bit small, so plan on maybe a bit of a wait. Lastly, I wanted to add a bit about our waitress, Teresa. She is such a sweetie; helpful, pleasant and possessing the energy of a hummingbird, all the while bantering with customers, making them feel...
