If I could leave zero stars, I would...
My family showed up on 8/14 at 540pm for our first experience at Charlie Clarks. We spoke with the hostess, who told us our wait time for a table was 20 minutes. Being a party of six, we totally expected this wait time. After 40 minutes, a patio table opened up so we took that since the dinning room was already 20 minutes behind schedule. Not a huge deal, but had we known almost an hour wait, we would have gone else where due to our plans after dinner.
After sitting us 6 on that patio at 620pm, it took one hour, for our first round of drinks to arrive, and our food to even be put in for order. I know this, because after asking why the delay, another server let us know our server did not put our order in until 715 although we had placed the order maybe 20 to 30 minutes after sitting down. We finally received our food at 805pm, almost 2 hours after sitting down.
Now, I get that restaurant's get busy. I worked in one for 10 years, but to not let a guest know that ticket times are almost 2 hours in INSANE TO ME. After speaking with our server, she did own the mistake of putting our food in late, which i respect. But even though she put in late, back of house took almost an hour to get the food out! Why would they not mention that?
Because of this delay, and poor communication, our night of celebrating was essentially ruined since we missed out plans after dinner, and all were not in the best mood being that it took almost two hours to eat.
The part that is really mind blowing, is that Charlies did not make this right. They forced the server to kick in $40 since it was her mistake. If you hire an employee, that employee is a reflection of your business. Since it is your business, its your responsibly to make this right, not theirs. This server was clearly over booked and running around. If the managers had staffed right, maybe this wouldn't happen. So again, the restaurants responsibility. Not the servers.
Charlies did zero to make this right, or even take accountability for almost taking 2 hours before we even got out food. I can never support a business who does not own their mistakes. The only reason we got a discount is because that's what the server kicked in to our bill. Yes, it was her fault, but its not her responsibility to make this correct.
I would never recommend this business. You're much rather off supporting anything else in Pinetop as the morals of this company are embarrassing. I would gladly come back to give them another chance if they had handled this the right way, but clearly they do not care about their customers, OR...
Read moreWe went there recently for a birthday and sadly the experience was not that great. I ordered the best steak on the menu, and I ordered it medium. The waitress recommended medium well for a little pink, and I said okay if that's what you suggest since I do like a little pink, but not rare/red. I also ordered "mixed vegetables." When the food finally came, the steak was well done. And I mean well done. It was hard to cut through it with the knife much less chew it. So, instead of chewing on rubber for the remainder of my meal, I sent it back after showing the waitress that there was zero pink. She apologized and put in another order for me. Additionally, the "mixed vegetables" I ordered was just cabbage and nothing else. Just stringy lumpy soggy cabbage, which also happen to be their soup of the day. Go figure. Needless to say, I didn't touch the cabbage. I was hoping for some broccoli or something, but whatever. Mostly, I was just looking forward to that steak. The second one came out fairly quickly. The waitress had me cut into it right then to make sure it was cooked properly. And to my surprise, the steak was cooked perfectly. I proceeded to cut up the steak to eat it and as I'm cutting the second piece, a long stringy strand got stuck in the knife and as I pull up the knife to see, hoping it's fat or something, I see a long hair dripping in steak juice. No one at our table has hair that long. And it was on the bottom of the steak. At this point, I lost my appetite and felt bad sending back another 30 dollar steak. I told the waitress I would give it to my dog and that I would pay for it since I was technically taking it home. She apologized again and was kind enough to remove it from our bill. I asked the others about their food, and they said it was alright. Everything that was served was mediocre at best. The beans tasted like they were straight out of a can, and even the burger we ordered was meh. This was certainly not a $250 experience. But it still cost us $250 none the less. In the end, I don't think I'll be back as this is not the first bad experience I've had here. The waitress' service was the only shining star of the whole experience. I would not recommend this restaurant to...
