Subway — Restaurant in Arizona

I’m pretty happy this Subway is here because there aren’t a whole lot of options in this community. I’m also happy that this location is clean, the employees are friendly, and the food tastes fresh.

It was pretty busy when I went there today but the line moved fast and my order was taken quickly.

The one thing that bothers me is the recent price changes. Foot Long’s are now $7.99 instead of the old “five dollar foot long”. I’ve been told before that the price increase is due to people demanding they change their bread recipe, and “$15.00 per hour minimum wage”. Which is bogus because there is no nationwide “$15.00 per hour minimum wage”. Let me be clear. I wasn’t told that by this franchisee, it was a different one on the other side of the valley. But I was told it was new cooperate policy. And speaking of new “cooperate policy”, they have reduced the amount of protein you get in your sandwich. For the tuna salad foot long, that translates to 4 scoops of tuna instead of the traditional 5. This is the reason I give 4 stars instead of 5. 4 scoops, 4 Stars.

Walked in to order a couple sandwiches at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday 4/3/24. One female employee helping a single customer. Not sure if there was another employee in the back. The dining room was filthy (used q-tips on the floor). Kind of stopped me in my tracks, but stepped over them to use the restroom and wash my hands before ordering. I have never seen a more disgusting restroom (let alone a restroom in a restaurant, and a women's specific restroom). I couldn't even use the restroom let alone consider ordering food. We walked straight out.

If the two places meant for customer service/reception were that filthy, I can't imagine how disgusting their backroom and food prep areas are. They seriously need to have an OSHA inspection. I strongly advise against eating here unless food-borne illness is on your list of desired experiences. 🤢🤮 Would give zero stars if this...

Seems to have insubordinate staff with no consequences. I've seen here a few times where staff didn't prep, leaving the next scheduled staff with produce to complete orders. Twice now, they didn't have any sliced onions or bell peppers, the 2nd time this happened, I refused my sandwich. The staff was friendly but you could tell they were frustrated with the situation. I hope the owner sees this post, as there are multiple complaints about the Mgr. Can't run a bus this way; I'll be traveling the extra couple od miles to visit the subway...
