Had heard good things about this place and I get excited anytime I see ‘chicken and waffles’ on a menu. Not quite the experience we would brag about.  Now I will say we were a larger party (4 adults and 3 kids). When we arrived, tables were full, but staff seemed less than engaged, almost as if they did not want to be there.  We did get seated, and our waitress brought coloring books for the kids.  There were 4 tables that were seated after us, but received their food before us...actually 2 of the tables had finished their meals before we even got ours.  The waitress did bring out a small fruit bowl for the kids to share while waiting. Now for the food, well, it was brought out in stages, so some of the food was cooler than it should have been.  The presentation was so-so.  The bacon was beyond crispy.  My dad had pancakes that had something green in them.  When we reported this to our waitress, her response was "well what does it taste like?" Followed by "sorry, our prep area is very confined and some items may have crossed over to the other station."  We were speechless at this comment, especially since 4 of the adults have a background in the food industry. Nevertheless, we went, we tried, but we won't go back.

We were sorely disappointed, especially given the other google reviews. But as I’m only in town for a short time each year, I have no intention of going back to give them another shot. The overall lack of concern from the kitchen and wait staff was enough to keep me...

So this restaurant was very close to our lakefront AirB&B so we found it by happenstance. We were delighted with our choice. The menu was on point with all of the traditional breakfast choices as well as a few surprises. My wife enjoyed her traditional breakfast with pancakes and sausage balls. I was pleasantly surprised to find a pork chop breakfast with applesauce. It was 3 perfect hand carved pork loin chops cooked to perfection. The applesauce was also made in house and delicious. The grits were my biggest surprise. Normally I get them as utility these however, were buttered perfectly and when I added some of the super flavorful syrup it tasted like bread pudding. And as an aside the syrup was amazing and I hope my palette is refined enough to taste a quality syrup and not a store bought sugar option. Even the toast was good again I have to assume without any promise but, it tasted better than traditional sandwich bread. Overall it was great and we returned the following day and it was delicious. Great find...

Okay.. went to try out Poached for the first time. At first, I was a little skeptical as I stepped inside this small but quaint restaurant. The place seems small with tables that seem to be ontop of each other which takes away from the ambiance and the feeling of an intimate breakfast. The service was okay but they seemed to be more interested in talking to each other rather than taking aim at customer service. I ordered the Lox (salmon) eggs benedict with home fries and the wife ordered the vegetarian eggs benedict with grits. I admit I was nervous at the pricing of the food. However, when the food was brought to the table, I was amazed at the artful presentation and the size portions. I have to honestly admit, the first bite was an incredible explosion of flavors. This is the best eggs benedict I've ever had. Hats off to the Chef. I tried the wife's grits and those too were the best I've ever had. I will definitely give them...

My family and I (32F, 32M, 11M) visited here last weekend. Seating is a little tight, but we got in before the rush so we had no problem getting seated right away! My husband ordered the Lobster Roll with the Shrimp Chowder and home fries - and ate every bite! He raved about the freshness of all the ingredients used. My son ordered the kid's size pancake breakfast with eggs, home fries, and bacon - either they accidentally brought us the adult size, or it is one heck of a portion size! He decided it was the second-best pancake he'd ever eaten, and that's saying a lot since he is a (self-proclaimed) pancake connoisseur 🤣🥞 I ordered the Plain Sailing - 2 eggs sunny side up, bacon, home fries, and toast 😋 Everything was fantastic! Now, the ONLY downside is that, when we went, they weren't ready to sell Mimosas or Bloody Mary's, so we will definitely have to go back after they have all the approvals in place to give those a try!
