Came in at dinner time, the hype is still real so the place was packed. The server guy was particularly rude when I asked him to take my order after seeing the table that arrived after us got their orders in. He then came by and argued with me and made excuses that tables get waited on in the order that they arrive, showed me his list that I was after them, and that these are small things I'm bickering about. I only got his attention because we also waited for a while without any service.
Throughout our time there, we witnessed him losing orders for another table. Saw a table walk out because of slow service. Him saying people are getting worked up over small things to another table (about me). Heard him make excuses why the food comes out so slow. If you come, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about as all the other younger servers are nice and hardworking.
The food was quite good actually. Chicken is not the traditional free range chicken, a little fatty, but that's what I prefer anyway. Got the Com Ga Special, which comes with rice and chicken, soup with chicken hearts, and fish sauce dipping. They ran out of fish sauce so we got small containers of it. Soup broth was delicious and flavorful, not too salty. Chicken portion was a little stingy in my opinion, but was meaty. It's prepped ahead of time and cold, so not sure why it took them 30 min+ to bring it out.
I'd recommend waiting for them to get their process in order and iron out their horrible customer service before checking them out. Sort the latest reviews to see how much they've improved before you come. Average was 2.9 stars at the time I tried it. I know you wouldn't expect customer service at Vietnamese restaurants, but this server in particular was pretty bad. He acts like he owns the place (maybe he does, but claims he doesn't) and does not accept his mistakes. Reminds me of a place in Vietnam where you come to eat and they scold you (on purpose) as part of the service. But if you'd rather try the food right away, then be prepared to deal with the...
Read moreFirst time here, I’ve never been to the Houston location but there’s been a lot of hype about this place so I wanted to try it out.
When we got here, it was about 10:30am on a Saturday. There were some people dining in and it didn’t start flooding people until maybe closer to 11 or 11:30am.
They serve all chicken (and a duck entree). They told us that they didn’t have any pho. The interior is spacious, clean, and they have images of their dishes as portraits on the walls.
We got the #6 com ga goi bap cai bap chuoi (Rice Chicken cabbage and banana flower salad) and the #71 bun mang ga (chicken vermicelli soup w bamboo).
The wait took awhile, to be fair we asked for more time to look at the menu and they were busy and just opened up a few days ago.
When we finally got our food, it was all good. There’s some bone fragments in the soup but it was flavorful. I recommend getting the banana flower salad and either sharing it or getting your own banana flower salad, it adds a nice flavor and texture to whatever rice or soup dish you have.
Overall, I would come back but maybe when it’s not lunch time and know what I want beforehand so I don’t want to wait extra to look at the menu. The food is really good and feels healthy but the only downside was the wait time.
For only $30 (rounding up without tip) for both entrees, it’s not that expensive for the amount that you get.
Edit: This place is chicken exclusive. You can get hu tieu and pho made from chicken broth and has chicken meat! They serve pandan infused...
Read moreWhen we came a while back when it first opened, they were not so prepare so the service was poor due to having long waits and some lacking supplies and ingredients. This gave us a bad experience and so we have not come back in a long time until today. But now they have turned it around 360 degrees and I would say that I will be coming back as a go-to weekly family list of restaurants to pick short list! Not only does it have their specialty chicken and chicken salad, and chicken congee, but also normal pho, bun bo hue, com or rice dishes that were all delicious. We finished up all of our dishes, even though we were not fully hungry because it was that flavorful. My daughter does not eat rice often, but she finished all her rice on the chicken dish, including the chicken skin on the chicken salad! My son munched the ribs on his rice dish to the bone. My wife approved the Bun Bo Hue to be on our to-go order list as one of the best in the DFW area. I do not like chicken with skin but I was able to eat it because it was very thin and the ginger fish sauce was just right. The chicken meat was seasoned just the right seasoning and was not too soft nor too chewy. To top it off, they serve a refreshingly light tea with light pandan standard as their water! It has every dish item on the menu to cover for everyone's different taste buds of my family! The prices are very fair for what we got....
