Gallery Cafe at Ballston — Restaurant in Arlington

Be warned of the manager of this establishment. I went there after my appointment and I had brought my lunch with me to eat. I was there for about 30 minutes before I got up to leave. As I was taking my trash out, the manager came up to me and told me “ for next time, there was no outside food or drink allowed.” While I understand this rule and think it is fair, there were no signs stating that before I went in. I have eaten lunch at other cafes before with no problem. Other cafes I have been to had SIGNS up stating “No Outside Food or Drink,” so I ate somewhere else. Instead of approaching and yelling at the customer, please put signs up stating that so customers know and understand the rule. According to a couple other reviews, the manager has been rude to customers before. One customer on Yelp, who paid for breakfast and went to get spoons for their lunch, said the manager was rude and tried to force her to pay for a lunch meal to get spoons and that the spoons aren’t free. So rude and unprofessional. I have an office in the building that I work in which allows me to use this business for breakfast and lunch. I ordered both breakfast for my manager and coworker today. We came down to get forks for lunch which wasn't purchased there and WAS AMBUSHED WITH THE MANAGER stating "we have to pay for the forks". She stated "this forks weren't free and that they were for customers only AND NOT FOR THE PUBLIC". We explained how we purchased breakfast this morning from there and she asked us "to confirm our order" then followed up with "well now is lunchtime that was breakfast". CONTINUED TO YELL AT US TO PUT THE FORKS DOWN. We asked how much are the forks were , stating we don't mind paying and she basically stated that we couldn't even buy them, that we will need to order lunch from there to get a fork. That is absolutely ridiculous because we are always going there for breakfast and lunch. The coffee also isn't the best. I WILL NEVER ORDER HERE...

While the food is decent, the service is not. A coworker and I walked over there for lunch yesterday. I ordered a turkey club sandwich, which was ok - not great, but edible. My coworker ordered a chicken wrap - she's pregnant, so she pays very close attention to what she should and should not eat, such as spouts. The description for this wrap did not include sprouts, but they prepared it anyway. When she asked them to make another sandwich, not only did they give her a sour attitude about it, but she also had to pay for the sandwich that she could not eat! Seriously?
