I had an absolutely incredible experience with Tim Birch from the minute I walked in. I visited Ascot after going to all of the other more "well known" stores that you hear on the radio/tv, and the difference could not have been more apparent. I sat down with Tim and we talked for well over an hour about what I wanted, price point, etc. He took the time to go over characteristics of diamonds, etc - he really was able to give me an understanding that the other stores just couldn't. They didn't have anything in the store that was exactly what I wanted (for the diamond), but he promised to get back with me once he reviewed what was on the market. We traded numerous emails about different stones he could get in along with his advice on what stones he thought would be worthwhile.
I thought another store was giving me a better deal so I went back to Tim and he was able to do even better. I even brought my fiance in to the store after I visited to see what she thought of Tim - she loved him as well and told me she hoped I bought from him!
Ultimately, he suggested a diamond that his diamond buyer at the mine said was a stunning stone. He had it flown in from the mine literally 3 days later (at no cost to me or obligation to buy) and it was spectacular. He even showed me the price he paid to assure me that I was getting a great deal.
He had the band custom made by their design team (basing it off a design my now fiance loved). When the ring came in the first time he noticed a very small scratch (that I didn't see) and suggested we taper the band a bit more. He sent it back to make sure everything was perfect. Throughout the process Tim earned my trust and I greatly valued his input.
I know I got a great deal from Tim, but even more importantly, I knew he was being honest with me the entire time. He was incredibly knowledgable and made the process easy and fun. I have recommended Tim to all my friends and know that Tim will take care of them. Absolutely incredible jeweler - I can't recommend Tim and Ascot...
Read moreI brought my engagement ring to this establishment for resizing. This ring was custom made with a large pearl, garnet accents, and a white gold band made to look like coral. My fiancé saved for this ring since three months into our dating and, as expected, it was quite precious to me. The resizing process took three attempts as I was met with a jeweler that each time dismissed me when I stated it is still too large. After this last attempt, I took the ring to another jeweler who advised that he saw a crack in the white gold band. I returned to Ascot Diamond's to inquire about the crack, at which time I was advised they did not see one. Two months later the band of my ring cracked entirely through and I was able to bend another piece of the ring that would have resulted in a chunk of the band falling off. I returned to Ascot Diamond's and showed them this crack and advised of the other crack. The individual reviewing it stated he did not see the second crack even upon use of a hand magnifying glass. I literally had to grab the ring and demonstrate that the band was going break in the area I had noted. (SOMETHING YOU COULD SEE WITH THE NAKED EYE). They advised they could repair the two cracks with a laser. Once the ring was picked up, I immediately went to another jeweler for a second opinion and they advised they saw "at least 15 more cracks" in the band due to an increase in porosity, an issue that neither my wedding band nor my fiancé's band have despite coming from the same creator as my engagement ring (neither of which Ascot touched). My fiancé now has to pay another jeweler build a new mold to replace the ring as Ascot Diamond's failed to take responsibility for this. I am grateful that I will be able to salvage the ring as it obviously means a great deal to me more than the cost. However, I am truly outraged by the lack of professionalism and responsibility taken by Ascot Diamonds. I would strongly encourage seeking out a...
Read moreMy hunt for the perfect engagement ring ended at Ascot. Before discovering Ascot, I was under the impression that jewelers with 5 Stars on Google and Yelp meant out of my price range. So, I focused on other local establishments, and word of mouth to find Dominion Jewelers in Falls Church. I was told that they are very affordable and easy to work with.
Experience #1: Young lady at Dominion Jewelers misplaced the $12k diamond she was showing me (which was already out of my budget) and I spent an hour trying to help them find it. After having my information collected by the sheriff (who was real nice), and leaving feeling like I had subconsciously stolen this diamond, I received a call stating that they found it in the paper it originally came in... Great job guys. I went back one more time to meet with
Experience #2: Straight to Ascot to see what the other end of the spectrum would provide. I didn't need to look any further after meeting Tim Birch. Tim was, from moment one, a class act. Tim didn't rush the process, didn't push me to make any quick decisions, and gave me all the tools and knowledge I needed to make the right decision. Tim and I worked together to find the perfect stone, create the perfect engagement ring, all within my budget.
Ascot and Tim (along with his team) were the Rolls Royce of Jewelers. They were only satisfied when I was 100% satisfied... not 99%, but 100%. Tim made sure to make a personal connection with me, find common interests, and never start business with getting down to business.
Ascot won me over for life. I denied jewelry insurance through my current renter's policy (State Farm) because they wouldn't let me choose my jeweler in the future (I'd have to choose someone off their list). I chose another provider who will let me work with Tim and his team.
Thanks Tim!...
