Service was a little disappointing and employees were downright rude at times. I reserved this room using my Hilton Honors points for 4 guests for 2 nights over the weekend of March 2nd-4th. Upon check-in, I asked if any upgrades were available for our stay (I'm Diamond with Hilton, so it's completely normal to ask this). The employee at the front desk proceeded to check before telling me that an upgrade was available; great! While getting our reservation ready, she asked what brought me into town and I told her that I was in town visiting a friend for his birthday. She then asked how many keys I would like so I said 4, as there were going to be 4 guests (clearly stated in the reservation). She then stared at me blankly for a moment, before responding with "oh well let me give you another room so you're not as close to other guests." Now, I'm a well dressed, clean-cut 25 year old and I've been staying in hotels for work regularly for several years now, but every once in a while I can tell that I'm being judged for my age - and that's exactly what was happening here. She was expecting similar ages for my guests, so in her mind it was clearly more likely that we would be rowdy or unruly and bother other guests. Regardless of the fact that I'm in my third year with Diamond status and have never been anything of the sort during my countless stays. Being judged in this manner is embarrassing and frustrating, but I will admit it's certainly not the end of the world. Of course, upon getting to the room we find that it's not any sort of upgrade, which was certainly a bit of a disappointment after being told we were receiving an upgrade. The second issue occurred the following morning when we left for brunch around 10:30; I called down to the front desk to request that our room be turned over since we were leaving a little later in the morning than housekeeping would normally have come by. "Of course, not a problem" I wasbtold over the phone. When we return around 4pm to shower and prepared for the evening, the room had not been touched and we did not have any clean towels to use (standard procedure is to leave dirty towels on the floor if you want them replaced). Annoying, but again, not a huge deal by itself. So I call the front desk and request fresh towels. A few minutes later we receive a knock on the door and we open the door to see a very annoyed looking employer holding a jumbled heap of unfolded towels... which was strange, but we accepted them. However, given it looked like it was possibly a bunch of dirty towels, we went through examining and smelling each towel before being comfortable using them. Why should a guest feel the need to do this in a Hilton hotel? The third issue that arose was the following morning at breakfast. As we were there, one of the guests in my group went over to the fridge to grab three bottles of water for the three of us who had just sat down at our table. As she closed the door to the fridge, she was accosted by an employee VERY loudly and VERY rudely telling her that she can't take three bottles of water and that she needs to put two of them back. We were sitting not 10 feet away when this happened. How absolutely infuriating and downright disrespectful. She wasn't trying to take an excessive number of bottles, she wasn't trying to stuff them in a bag, she wasn't even trying to leave the breakfast area with them. And my God, even if she was, SO WHAT? It was 3 bottles of deer park bottled water; worth literally a dollar in combined value. Of course, the woman with her 4 children running around screaming wasn't an issue (I don't actually care, just bringing it up for a comparison), but my guest attempting to grab water for our table was being treated as if it was a crime against Conrad Hilton himself. It was just downright offensive for a friend and guest of mine to be treated in...
Read moreI will start by saying our room was booked last minute. Not by choice, but we were stranded in need of a room for the night. I called the hotel and asked about room availability and was told there was a room available. Great! However, they would not accept a reservation over the phone or take payment to secure the room which is contrary to my experience with other Hilton hotels. They insisted we drive there and be taken as a walk-in. Fine. We risked the late night drive and possibility of the room being booked before we arrived. Upon arrival, the room was available. Great! However, we were not greeted at the check in desk as the attendant was busy on their phone or something- not with another guest. Once I got their attention, we were not greeted pleasantly and they didn’t seem interested in their potential guests. I was not asked about any Hilton membership I may have and after getting the room key, was not instructed on where to go, what time breakfast was, or offered any information about our stay. Overall, they answered all my questions and were helpful when pushed, but were not forthcoming in accommodating their new guests and not very warm. I would understand if they were busy, but there were no other guests even in the lobby. Writing a negative review is not something I wanted to do but if someone is in a similar position, it may be best to try elsewhere first.
Lastly the room was fairly clean, but there was a large cabinet in the room which seemed very odd. In it were the fridge and coffee maker. The coffee maker was on the bottom shelf about a foot from the floor which was inconvenient. Again… overall, didn’t get the warm and fuzzies, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers. We got a good nights sleep and left in the morning.
I don’t like bickering but if this were a cheaper motel or days inn, I would understand. For what we had to pay, it was an...
Read moreThe hotel is a reminisce of an 80s movie. A lot of the features of the hotel is outdated. There's no pool in the hotel. Parking is available below the hotel. Plenty of parking here. I wouldn't have to worry about finding a spot. It is also open to the public. You would get in and out privileges so you only need to pay once per day. The feature that stands out about this hotel is the proximity to the Metro. It is literally a step outside.
Does the hotel have great views of the city? I would say look elsewhere for better views. The executive lounge is available in this hotel with a happy hour from 5 - 7 pm. The lounge closes at 10 pm each day. It has drinks available all day with small snacks like pretzels and cookies.
The staff at this location was very welcoming and because of them it was a memorable stay. Even though there were a couple of issues during my stay. First, the power went out so it was a bit stressful navigating around the room with just my flashlight. This caused the hotel to stop the hot breakfast and I had to go out and purchase breakfast elsewhere. Second, the room was really dusty. They need to add air purifier into the rooms or do something about them because it was hard to breathe sometimes and we would need to go outside to get some fresh air. Lastly, this hotel is really meant for business travelers as there is nothing available for children. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families as it might cause an uncomfortable stay. Also, the rooms have really thin walls. We could hear the neighbor watching TV all night and guests walking in and out...
