I have been going to the North Arlington restaurant for several years now, and I've never been disappointed. It makes me sad to read some of these reviews, because I've never experienced bad food or service. At busier times, in the evening and on weekends, the hostesses offer buzzers and a trip to My Martini two doors down (they even let you know if the wait time will be shorter if you dine at My Martini.) The restaurant is small, so wait time for larger parties can be a while if you don't call ahead, but I've always found the hostesses, waiters, and chefs extremely friendly and knowledgeable. When my friends and I first started eating there, we inundated the chefs with questions about what they were preparing, and what we were ordering. They never hesitate to give you info, no matter how busy they are. The waiters and waitresses have always given us the same treatment, and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to place an order (10 if in a large group that's not familiar with the food.) I reccommend sitting at the bar - it's worth the wait. I've never tried a roll I didn't enjoy, or a dish that wasn't truly yummy. Their sushi and sashimi always tastes fresh, and looks awesome. The presentation (marble slabs, decorative swirls of sauce and wasabi) is always entertaining. Their boats rock. I second whoever commented on the wasabi crusted salmon roll - we've dubbed it the "potato chip of the sushi world." I can honestly say that none of my orders have ever been messed up or forgotten, and the wait time is no longer than any other restaurant (10-20 minutes.) This is an all around treat for North and South Arlington! (And Fort Worth, for that matter - the newer location is beautiful.) I've tried quite a few sushi restaurants, and Pirahna continues to remain...
Read moreLet me start with the fact I have been coming to this restaurant when it was My Martini/Piranha Killer Sushi. Then they blended into one. We have had multiple birthday celebrations/dinners/lunches/happy hours/even an unofficial wake for a friend who passed who loved it there. It has ALWAYS been fantastic. Our favorite drink was the CHocolate Martini with the real chocolate mousse on the rim.
Until Friday night (5/10/2024). My son and I stopped in and it was different. Menu was smaller. I get that. Menus change. Staff was totally different. It happens. Restraint industry has turnover.
I order my Chocolate Martini. 1st, IDK who the bartender was but the gasoline they were trying to pass off was awful. I got 3-4 sips before I couldn't take it any longer. And the "mousse"??? Was nothing more than chocolate cool whip. I should have been more cautious when I saw it was sliding off my glass. I drank my water. Which had a lovely chlorine aftertaste. I had a roll and miso soup. Roll was great. Always is. Miso soup was salt broth. But it was hot and I was freezing as we were under a vent. My son had his roll and was fine.
Paid our bill and left. And started feeling weird on the drive home. By midnight, I was in full throws of food poisoning. I gave up everything but my memories. Note, my son? Perfectly fine. And he had a crunchy tuna roll and a glass of Plum wine.
And this is sad, because I have turned SO many on to this restaurant. I was sad when they closed the Ft. Worth location. But I will be contacting the manager and the GM about this. I am sad I paid cash otherwise I would dispute my bill with my card.
But I will NEVER dine...
Read moreSo after reading the reviews my girlfriend and I decided to check this place out. We thought the restaurant looked very nice and the atmosphere was spot on. The service was decent the girl was just not a people person so there were a few awkward moments. When I asked what they had to drink the server suggested the mango tea($2.25), I got it and it tasted like watered down tea with a very slight hint of mango, I put 2 sweeteners in it and it was a little better. The presentation of the food was great, however it did not taste nearly as good as it looked. We were weary when we went in so we started with a california roll($5.50 8 pieces), it had small portions of ingredients and the avocado was mushy which happened to be the one ingredient they included a lot of. When we poured our soy sauce it had a dead fruit fly in it(they keep soy sauce in ceramic tea pot with a large spout, easy access for bugs). They have a bar open to the outside patio so bugs can fly in, which there was another fruit fly messing with us while we were eating. We decided to try one more thing so we tried the grilled chicken spring rolls($8.95 4 half spring rolls). The presentation was great and the first couple of bites were okay, I'm not sure wether we got tired of it or if the good ingredients were only on one side of the spring roll(because it was cut in half). Well the check was a whopping $18.04 and all we had was 2 waters(free), a mango tea, one california roll, and a spring roll appetizer. For the food quality the price was outrageous and by the time we were finished I could see why there was only one other couple in the...
