Where to start with this place…I have only been to this location twice and that is honestly two too many! The first time I visited this location I took my son who has never had Abo’s before, I grew up on it in Boulder. We walked in, we were not greeted by the high school kids because they were all to busy talking and on their phones, the older woman that works there just looked up with a scowl on her face and went back to flipping the dough she had in her hand. We ordered, the young girl at the register was nice but really could have cared less about us being there. We sat down after getting our drinks and waited for our pizza. Pizza came, my son was in heaven, I was a happy dad. I got up for a refill and happened to catch a gentlemen, come to find out late he was the owner, and asked about delivery. He told me they only deliver 3 miles from the restaurant, not knowing for sure the exact distance but thinking it was pretty close (4.2 miles 8 minutes away just fyi) asked if they would deliver to the baseball fields off 44th just west of McIntyre (Tony Grampsas). He condescendingly said “we don’t deliver more than 3 miles, that’s too far!” My reply was “okay, didn’t know it was that far away, just thought I’d ask, thanks.” I wasn’t going to waste my time mentioning that I would be ordering for kids baseball games and probably ordering 15-20 pizzas at $25 each so you can do the math, I guess they do so well they don’t need my business every weekend we play there. Fast forward to tonight….my son (10 years old) and I finish at the baseball field and decide we will have some pizza and he wants Abo’s again. It’s 7ish so I try to call ahead and the line is busy which I can understand and respect. I try another 4-5 times as we are driving, still busy, oh well maybe I can order online? I really don’t want to be that guy that shows up last minute and orders a whole pie 15 mins before closing. I go online….Arvada doesn’t do online ordering, ok let’s call again…line is still busy. My son and I arrive at the restaurant at 7:43pm and they are suppose to close at 8pm. We walk up and they are closed already, no sign in the window stating why they are closed early or anything like that. We can see the woman behind the counter and she looks at us and gestures her hand across her throat and I say to my son “looks like they are closed buddy, sorry”. Then I see the man (owner) inside motioning to us to come in so we walk in. He comes out from behind the counter with an attitude explaining that they are closed because that have a GAS LEAK so they had to shut down the ovens which I replied “oh ok no problem, no big deal, we just weren’t sure why you all were closed so early”. He then got even more of an attitude explaining that they have been super busy and blah blah blah and I said that must have been why we were not able to get though when well tried to call and I also mentioned that we tried to do online which he promptly and rudely said we don’t do online which I replied that I saw that simply trying to explain that we had tried to get an order in earlier. He continued with his attitude as he walked us out the door and as my son and I were standing in the parking lot listening to him he began to raise his voice at me in front of my son. The comment that sent me over the edge as he was raising his voice at me for no good reason in front of my son was “YOU PEOPLE come in here and talk SH!T to me…” First off let me make this VERY CLEAR I am a white male, my son is white and part Hispanic, the man who owns this Abo’s location is a light skinned African American male. I am not sure who he is referring to when he says “YOU PEOPLE” but I did not raise my voice, I did not say anything rude or inappropriate to this man, I did not insinuate anything, I simply stated that I called ahead and was unable to get ahold of anyone. So he is busy yelling at me and I have raised my voice as I am defending myself and the woman comes out from inside and looks at my son and says to him “Your dad is an a$$h0/e yelling like this in front of you!”...
Read moreThis is usually a place my family and I love to go to, or order from . There’s only been one other time we were unhappy with our order , but decided to not complain and just deal with it . Ordering from Abo’s is a bit pricey , but even more expensive with our size family ! We are fine with the high pricing , when our food is cooked good , and customer service is great , however our last experience was not good , and horrible customer service . This was by far the worst customer service we have ever experienced , and probably the worst based on anytime we have preserved out . We ordered to of the largest pizzas , and one of the two pizzas there was not a single complaint , and we were more than happy with ! Our second pizza , which the more expensive one due to it having all toppings , was burnt. If I am spending money to dine or take out , I want my food cooked right , and not burnt . I immediately called Abo’s, and asked to speak with the manager . I spoke with her explaining we were happy with one pizza, and not happy with the second , as it was to burnt and no one in our family would eat it if it was burnt . We did “NOT” even ask for a refund , we just wanted the pizza remade , and told the manager we weren’t eating the pizza , and would happily bring the pizza back , and asked them to remake and switch it out with one that was cooked like the other . The manager ( a woman ) fought with me , going on about how that pizza looked perfect to her . She said,” the driver opened the pizza before they brought it for delivery , and they both had been discussing how perfect our pizza looked!” I’m sorry, but if you are okay with a burnt pizza, that is on you , but if a customer is unhappy , and expresses that they are not going to eat it, and just want it exchanged , wht is the problem ? The customer is right , especially if this is all based on personal preference ....... some people prefer soft crust , thin or deep dish , hand tossed , there is a different request and preference for everyone , and we were not satisfied. The manager not only wouldn’t remake it , and take the old back , but was extremely rude , because she refused to be wrong . She didn absolutely nothing for us , to help the situation , and was very careless about our disappointment. She mentioned speaking to the owner , and I not only left my contact info with her , but made it clear we would have no problem returning the entire pizza the following day since she wasn’t okay with us bringing it back that same evening . We never received a call from the owner , and we waited a few days , held onto the crappy pizza , and finally called back again to see about speaking to the owner . The owner want in anymore , the staff proceeded to take down my information ( again ), but never a call back to speak to us and resolve the complaint or issue . We spend a lot of money there , and have sent many friends and family there way for additional business. Very upset and disappointed that not even the owner cared to save a long time customer , and had no interest in keeping us coming back in the future . I will be posting to my friend and family , and letting those we boat and brag about our awful experience , and will now look for a new company that treats customers better and serves food to...
Read moreI had a pretty bad experience here today. I took my three kids with me one 4, one 2, and one six months. My youngest was sleeping in his car seat and my other two were sitting at the table while i ordered. While i was ordering the older lady making pizzas started yelling at my kids not to play with the parmesan shakers because they were glass more than once. It rubbed me wrong but i understood her reasoning , just the way she yelled at them was surprising because mind you they're four and two. After i was done ordering i went and sat down with them and moved the shakers and told the kids why they couldn't play with them because it's unsafe, and they didnt again. They called me and asked me if I had three cheese pizzas and I said no I had three pepperoni so then I heard them calling out three pepperoni pizzas so I went and grabbed it which was weird because everyone else who was eating in the building had their food taken to their table but they made me come up and grab mine I didn't understand why but it wasn't a big deal so then I stopped the gentleman with the hat he may be the owner and told him how rude that lady was to me while i was talking to him she was glaring at me and made me super uncomfortable and he told me that they had called my pizza out three times and I told him I was here alone with all three of my children and it was so packed in there I could not hear anything and also I don't understand why they delivered everyone else's pizzas or food to their table but mine and then I brought up the shakers and how she scream at the kids and made me feel uncomfortable so I wanted a box to leave because I no longer wanted to stay there to eat because the vibes were off and he let me know a couple days ago a kid had cut himself on the glass and the ambulance came and his father is suing their business which is valid but had nothing to do with me and I told him even if my kids were to cut themselves it's my problem and my responsibility because they are my children and I would not sue him and that lady needs to learn how to talk to people I understand they're on edge due to the circumstances but the way I left feeling was not good at all not sure if I'll return because I've always had good experiences here but the way my children were treated and the way I was treated was...
