This was my first visit. My party of three arrived at 7pm on a Friday evening. First and foremost, the food was really good, the margaritas were really good, and the atmosphere was great. I will definitely be going back.
But my experience with service was really poor/odd on this visit.
We were seated right away and were given choice of inside or on the patio. All good. We chose the patio because the inside was really loud (which is totally fine with me. We just wanted a slightly quieter vibe).
After being seated on the patio, it took ages for anyone to acknowledge us let alone take an order. A waiter eventually told us he'd come back and take our order. At least 10 minutes went by and he never came back. I had to ask another server if she could find ours.
Quite awhile went by before the original gentleman came back. I'd say we'd been seated and waiting for 25 minutes by this time. He took our drink and food orders.
Strangely, after another long wait, our entrees came out first (which were delicious). We had been seated for 45 min at this point.
After we were about done with entrees, our drink orders arrived. After we were done with entrees and drinks, our waiter came back with our appetizer order (guac and chips).
If it wasn't strange enough to get things delivered in this order, the guac showed up unmixed and the waiter just left. We were a bit speechless. If it was meant to be tableside quac, that's cool but I've never had to mix it myself (let alone with two plastic sporks). In retrospect, a friend let me know their menu says it's served that way. I missed that. That's on me. But my feedback is that's not a great thing. I'm paying quite a bit of money for your food. Why should I have to prepare it myself (with sporks)?
The guac was delicious after we mixed it ourselves. But it was just very strange.
I'm sure this was a one-off and perhaps the server was new/inexperienced.
As I said, I will definitely be back for the food, but am hoping for a better service experience, which I'm sure I'll get based on the other...
Read moreI guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Takiza taco and tequila bar is the newest concept in the old illegal burger spot along 64th street in Arvada. From the moment you walk in,the place is lively and its crisp design elements grab and hold your attention. there is a small bar capable of seating probably 8 to 10 people and a really nice side patio with some covering for shade and again probably 7 to 10 tables and a small couch. now let’s get to the reason for the review, the food is certainly the star of the show. My wife and I have been four times in the last month which is a testament in itself. We have had everything from tacos to chips and salsa as well as the nachos , and there are absolutely no disappointments here my friend. The menu is set up in almost à la cart fashion. You will not find giant homestyle plates of smothered cheese with rice and beans, but what you will find fantastic, authentic tasting small plates, tacos, and wonderful sauces and moles, I highly recommend the trashcan nachos… As soon as they come to the table, you will understand what I mean , the tacos are also wonderful although they are smaller and on the more expensive side, I think they prove themselves worthy. There are many wonderful and complex flavors to explore as well as an outstanding selection of tequila. The service has always been on point and friendly. I would have to say overall this is just a wonderful addition to the Westwood area and we are super excited to have a cool taco place near us. I recommend trying it as soon as you can you will not be...
Read moreFor the people who don’t feel like reading the full review, here is the synopsis: top tier handmade Mexican food served by high quality staff in an excellent environment!
I went here today with my family and my in-laws 7 of us all together. We have it a try as we live next door and thought why not. It was by far the best choice we have made in a long time! All, and I do mean all the food we got was extraordinary! We started off the meal with the chips and queso which was wonderfully done. Yes, even the shops were great! For the main dish we got pretty much one of every taco. The thought and care that Jim and the chef have put into the menu really shows. The ingredients all compliment each other and it created such an enjoyable bite time and time again. No one flavor overpowering the other all working together to excite. My favorite by far was the Al pastor! Recommend it 100%. I doubt that there is anything less than perfect in the menu as even the kids quesadilla was delicious! My three picky eaters made quick work of them and were on to the street corn, rice and beans. None of this would have been possible though without the amazing staff from the wait staff up to the owner all were very happy and passionate about the work that they are doing at this location. There’s no doubt in my mind that this will be a west Arvada staple for...
