I used to love Dutch Bros, and went once or twice every week. These days, I go once or twice a year, and each time I go I’m reminded why. Yes, the coffee is good. But the drive through is an absolute mess. I have to set aside 20+ minutes to order and get my coffee, and I’m guessing partially as a result of this, other people in line act more and more aggressive. When the employees tell people which car to follow, it generally goes okay, but whenever they don’t, all hell breaks loose. Today, I was trying to take my turn alternating at the merge point, but the lady in the other lane was trying to cut me off, made it clear she would hit me (her car was already wrecked so I believed her), then rolled down her window to yell at me saying she ordered first so she should go first. I backed off, cause it’s just not worth it over some coffee. The barista confirmed with me at the window you’re supposed to alternate, but no employee stepped in to clarify or correct whichever of us was wrong while she was yelling out her window. My question is, why not put signs that you should alternate? Or implement some type of system that makes it clear who goes next? It’s a solvable problem, and Dutch Bros just offloads that conflict point for customers to navigate themselves, which is especially problematic because it changes from location to location and day to day. It would certainly help if the drive through sped up a bit too - it feels high stakes when every car in front of you represents potentially 5 more minutes you wait in line. Either way, it’s just not worth the stress anymore. There are SOO many good coffee places out there where even at peak times, you’re waiting 10 minutes max. And more importantly, places that don’t have patrons that raise my...
Read moreI am a long time coffee drinker, my mom used to give me coffee when growing up,by the time I reached 7th grade I was able to eat chocolate covered espresso beans and have no problem with the bitterness of the bean. Fast forward a whole lot of years,,I have been a flat white Starbucks fan for as long as I can remember, the ristretto mixed with breva( 1/2 n1/2 and of course a venti size with 4 pumps of hazelnut. Oh my goodness my mornings were complete. Until I moved, surprisingly enough the nearest Starbucks’s was 10 blocks away and getting there, traffic is awful, but every morning I had to have my coffee, after a few failed attempts at making my order correct at that Starbucks location, and even ordering different drinks on the menu just to make sure it just wasn’t me and my pallette, I stopped going. There was a Dutch Bros right across the street from me, I’ve heard about them and they get good reviews, but come on nothing beats Starbucks right? Wrong, oh how wrong I was. I pulled into the drive thru lane and as usual had to stay in line for awhile before I ordered, since I had never been I’m like yeah ok whatever, the line however moved so quickly I wasn’t even able to read the menu.it was my turn my order, a sweet gentalman was standing outside with his tablet taking orders, I had explained I had never been to Dutch bros and how iam a loyal Starbucks drinker, he grins and says what do you drink at Starbucks? I told him a flat white, the gentleman suggested I try there double torture. So I did.. I SIP, I WAS HOOKED. Of course I’m a skeptic so, I tried there chai, cold and hot, I tried a double torture with cold brew. DUTCH BROS. I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU.. if Starbucks wants to compete they have a...
Read morePulled in at noon on a Sunday. They had two lines split, and we’re taking orders on a tablet near the very entrance to the line.
She asked what I wanted and I said I needed to see a menu, so she pointed at the menu board, at least 15 to 20 feet away. I’m nearsighted and couldn’t read anything. I had to pry information out of her about what was available for coffee, and she recommended something that tasted like Starbucks. (If I wanted Starbucks, I would have went there.) I finally ordered a boring caramel, because I felt awkward and didn’t know what else to order.
Pulled around and see that they actually have a holiday menu with different yummy drinks… so I was upset, because that’s what I really wanted, but it wasn’t offered to me.
They don’t give you heat sleeve, so the cup is exceptionally hot and can’t be held normally. So you can’t hold it while driving. You have to grab it by the top (which is very dangerous), and cup it with your hand on the bottom, to not get burned.
Pull up to the window and obnoxious music is blaring and ricocheting off my car windows. I am highly noise sensitive, so very painfully uncomfortable for me. (Although I’m glad they get to enjoy their job and jam out, just turn it down a smidge for your customers)
Luckily, the caramel coffee was actually delicious, and the muffin...
