ZERO STARS!!! I have never written a negative review before, but my experience at Morning Story restaurant in Arvada was by far the worst I've EVER had. The service was rude and unprofessional on every level. The older woman with red hair at the hostess stand and the manager, an older short bald man, treated us in an unacceptable manner. When we arrived and asked about waiting for an outside table, the woman with red hair said there was no wait as long as we understood we couldn't sit inside if it started raining. We assured her that it was fine and we would leave if it rained. However, she mentioned she needed to ask her boss before seating us on the patio. There were around four open tables and a couple already dining outside. Despite telling us she had to ask her boss, the woman remained at the hostess stand without attempting to ask him. We asked her to inquire with her boss or we would go elsewhere. We were calm and polite while expressing our request. However, she continued standing there, barely assisting other customers. Eventually, she went to speak to her boss and returned with the explanation that he said it was fine but, it was not possible to seat us now due to "safety reasons." We expressed our willingness to take the chance with the rain, even jokingly offering to sign a safety waiver. Oddly enough, every table outside, except for one with two people, remained empty. When we asked why they could sit outside, she claimed it was because "it just got cloudy." This explanation was puzzling since it had been cloudy since early morning. Furthermore, we received three different reasons why we couldn't be seated, none of which mentioned a waiting list. We waited an additional five minutes, gazing at the vacant tables. Finally, feeling completely ignored, we decided to take matters into our own hands and sat at one of the empty tables that had been unoccupied for over 15 minutes, clearly indicating there was no wait for those tables. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS After a few minutes outside, a presumed manager, a short bald man, approached our table in a hostile and accusatory manner, demanding to know what the problem was. He berated and yelled at my husband and me, insisting that there were eight tables ahead of us and we should just leave if we didn't want to wait. We tried explaining that the hostess had said there was no wait, but he talked over us, offering no solutions or alternatives. He didn’t ask to seat us inside, put our name on the list, NOTHING, he simply scolded us to go to another restaurant. We were shocked and appalled, especially considering that another table outside didn't face any of these issues. The presumed manager continued to be visibly angry. We decided to leave, to which he responded with a dismissive "GOOD! Do it," and even yelled a threatening remark to "stay safe" as we walked to our car. This behavior is completely inappropriate and unacceptable for any workplace. Their lack of professionalism, class, and common sense is astounding. It's unfortunate how much business they must lose due to such behavior. There are plenty of other breakfast and brunch places to explore in the area. Take that guys recommendation and just go somewhere else. You’d be better off going elsewhere, the food is overpriced for what...
Read moreWe walked in to this location confident they would be able to continue the awesome experience we receive every-time we go to the denver (holly st) location. We walked in friendly smiles and my wife and toddler and I were immediately taken to a table. We were brought to a table top with chairs and we requested if we could have a booth instead to accommodate our toddler to which we were told it would take another 15 minutes before the girl with the lip piercings walked away and left us standing. We thought nothing of it and came back to the waiting area. My wife over heard the pierced lipped girl say to her colleague that we had requested a booth and she would not give it to us. Then proceeded to sit a single person to the booth directly behind where we were sitting.. waiting. Two more customers come in and they are seated immediately. I do not want to believe we were being discriminated against for our skin color or anything of that nature. (The morning story name has already generated enough hate on social media about racist acts on its own for this.) however i do feel we were being discriminated for being a family. For requesting something more suitable for our toddler to be comfortable. That is something I cannot overlook. We were patient and courteous and did not aggravate or confront anyone. We simply removed ourselves and decided to not look too deep into the reason were being mistreated. Our goal is not to claim racism. Our goal is to keep local owned locations growing by keeping them accountable. Wether it was an act of racism or not we were mocked to our faces and we hope no one else walking into this establishment feels that they have done something wrong or inconvenienced anyone by being there. We forgive the girl with the lip piercings. We hope she...
Read moreWe have been long time patrons of Morning Story and have brought multiple family and friends here over the years. We recently had taken a long time break after my husband gave the waitress named Andrea 5 20's to cover a $87 bill. When she returned she shorted us $10, claiming he gave her 4 20's and a $10. We knew she was lying because he had all 100's except he had gotten $100 in 20s at the bank immediately before we came to eat. We always tip well and were planning to tip her $25 had she not shorted us the $10. Well after months of not eating there, yesterday we decided to get take out. We tipped the woman in front $10 for bringing our order, signed the receipt and left. Shortly after leaving my mom gets a notification from her card saying an additional $12 was added to the total. The manager Emily denied it even though we have the bank charges as proof. If you have elderly parents that eat here make sure you check their statements. The fact it has happened to us twice now months apart shows it's a regular occurrence. My parents, my sisters family, my husband and I, his family as well as my brothers family will no longer be giving them our money, which is a shame since we live so close and we love supporting...
