Goombas Pizza Grinder - 64th and Wadsworth — Restaurant in Arvada

First visit… I’m a big Italian sandwich fan, so I tried out their Italian grinder. This thing was massive! It was about. Foot long and weighed a ton.

In a way it reminded me of a supreme pizza with the sliced black olives and sliced green bell peppers, which also makes it stand out from other Italian sandwiches.

Every single ingredient was fresh, the produce was crisp, and the bread was perfect - not too thick, crisp enough but easy on the roof of your mouth, and flavorful.

Presentation was surprisingly good, which isn’t something I usually consider with takeout sandwiches. But it came wrapped, in a box with a wrapped pickle, and extra Italian dressing on the side. Made it easy to take leftovers to work the next day.

The guy at the counter (owner?) was friendly and welcoming. The vibe was the same. They even had a TV tuned to some sort of pizza channel. Not too big inside, probably meant for mostly takeout, but enough for lunchtime or a small group.

I was almost tempted by their huge homemade cookies - I will be getting the pink cherry chip cookie next time to satisfy my childhood craving. The pizza offerings look great, with some unique options available that I’ll definitely try out since I can’t wait to try out more from...

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to deliver. They need to put a giant disclaimer on their website that says that you may not receive your delivery. Waited an entire hour before calling them and was told, directly by an employee, that this happens frequently. It is clear that the third party delivery company they work with is untrustworthy. Delivery company that they outsource to was a NIGHTMARE to deal with and get my money back from. Took 20 minutes just to get it issued.

I was told by the employee, rather rudely, over the phone that I cannot be angry with this business. That is completely false. This business knows who they work with. They openly stated over the phone that they know this happens. They have a choice on who to partner with.

If this was a rare occurrence beyond their control, I would have no issue. Stuff happens. I get it. But when I'm told that this is a frequent problem that they know about, then that's a different story.

I wanted to try this place for a very long time, and I was very excited to finally do so. An hour and a half later I got absolutely nothing but a hungry evening and a bitter taste...

Great pizza. Honestly the best in Arvada. But it seems 50/50 on whether we get our pizza delivered within 45 minutes or nearly 1.5 hrs later (we ordered around 4 pm this time around so not exactly "peak" time) when its cold and you're too grumpy to enjoy it. Maybe we shouldn't use their website for delivery orders (they use doordash or slice or whatever third party to deliver - not sure if thats the issue or what) but what's the point of buying pizza if you can't get it delivered? Anyways 5 stars on the food but 1 star on delivery time. Will we continue to order? Absolutely. When its on time, it's great but when its late it's unacceptably so. I understand you can't control what your third party does (DD drivers taking more than one order, for instance) but when you contract a third party service, you take a risk.
