Las Potrancas Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Arvada

Today 8/1/2024. Went here for the first time ever. Should have looked at the reviews before coming but my experience today was Horrifying. Came here with someone and their children plus my little girl. At first everything seemed nice. We ordered our drinks. The manager/waitress seemed like she had a chip on her shoulder from the get go but neither one of us said anything. Got our drinks and we ordered our food. The food came out and that's when all broke loose. The woman I was with took her plate back to the kitchen and told them that her food was made wrong. She keeps a paper in her wallet and read it to the waitress/manager. The manager started arguing with the customer! Stated they didn't make it wrong. The woman said she wasn't going to pay for her meal and asked them to take it off since it was made wrong. The manager refused and told her she would have to pay for it regardless. The woman said that she would pay for her girls meals they barley touched at this point but she wasn't going to pay for food that she didn't eat. The manager kept arguing with her saying she was going to pay for it but at this time the manager was on the phone to the cops. The woman asked for to go boxes for her kids food and she wanted to pay for their food since they started to eat it. The manager ignored her. The other workers ignored her. The woman dumped the plate behind the counter in front of the manager and walked out with her two girls. My daughter and I ate our food. When it came time for the bill. The manager was in the back office I assume but the young gentleman rung me up. It was almost 100.00. I said for my meal and my daughters meal and our two drinks? 100.00! No they tacked on the other woman's meal with mine since we walked in together and sat together. I told them I'm willing to pay for mine and my daughters but I'm not paying for her tab. She left the building. The Manger said I would have to wait on the cops to be there or pay the whole thing. Which isn't fair on my part. I did nothing wrong here. I didn't have any cash and I didn't want to run out on my tab. All I had was my card They refused to let me pay until the cops got there. As the young man was cleaning up so was the manager. She told me that she or the place shouldn't have to pay for that food that was dumped and the kids food that was barley touched when all this happened. I didn't reply. My daughter and I sat there for an hour waiting on the cops to show up. Now it about 9pm almost. They show. They get both sided. I end up paying for just mine and my daughters meals and drinks and left. The young man and the woman working the window were very nice about the whole situation. Seemed understanding. My food was great! Coodoos to the cooks!!! But over all service sucked. I don't normally write reviews but tonight was ridiculous!!! I won't ever come back nor will I tell my friends to come here because of this experience. Having to keep a child entertained while waiting on the cops to pay for the right bill that actually belonged to me....

A warning to anyone who goes to this location: make sure you save a copy of your receipt with the tip amount on it AND check your bank statement a couple days later once the transaction goes through. My friend and I had dinner here last week and split the check, but we unfortunately did not save our copies of the receipt. Two days later we checked our bank statements and realized we had each been charged $10 extra ($20 altogether). We went back to the restaurant that night after realizing this and waited for over 30 minutes for the employees to try and find a reason for this extra charge. They even called the server on the phone who we had that night, who again proceeded to try and make excuses for the $20 increase in our bill. They went through the receipts from that night and conveniently both of our receipts were missing. Again, after over 30 minutes of waiting, the man finally reviews a receipt of all transactions from that night that includes the tip amount and found that a 1 was clearly put in front of our tip amounts left, resulting in each of us being charged $10 extra. The man finally hands us a $20 bill and we leave. I have no idea if the server faced any repercussions for this, so I want to ensure everyone knows to always double check what is charged to their cards. My friend and I certainly will not be...

That was a waste of $50. We live 2 blocks away and just have never been here (always go to Los arcos it’s our go to) and today my husband was craving a steak burrito and after researching in Arvada we forgot this place was near us and decided to try it. I was so excited honestly thought I was going to be posting a 5 star review up until my second bite. I was thrilled with how everything was packaged and the portions of the salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. I dove into the salsa and said “I love it!” Then the second chip I put in dug out a huge long hair. So gross. I threw that away and gave the meal a try. We got the quesabirra (to split as an app) and it was lackluster. I will say they have a good amount of meat. It it just wasn’t good. My chili relleno plate was terrible. All a sweaty mix of white processed cheese. One bite and that was thrown away too. Ended up only eating my rice with some guacamole and sour cream on it 😭 such a bummer.
