My husband and I recently tried DIG in Ashburn, and we honestly went in with pretty low expectations. With a new fast-casual restaurant, we expected mediocre food, little flavor, and standard service. We were completely wrong.
From the moment we walked in, we received top-tier service from the staff. They took the time to explain the menu, made checkout seamless, and even checked in on us while we were eating. What really stood out was that they cleared our plates when we finished—something we definitely didn’t expect at a fast-casual spot, but it made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued.
Now, let’s talk about the food. I assumed it would be basic: a simple meat, vegetable, and grain plate with bland flavors. Again, I was so pleasantly surprised. Every single component was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. I ordered the steak, which was not only cooked to order but done to absolute perfection—something rare for this type of restaurant.
We also tried the farro, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, kale apple salad, Caesar, and broccoli, and everything was delicious. DIG has managed to take classic comfort foods and give them a fresh, modern twist. You can truly taste the freshness in every bite. Towards the end of our meal, the staff recommended sauces, and we went with the pesto and garlic aioli—both of which complemented each dish beautifully.
We originally went in just to try it out, thinking we wouldn’t be back, but after this experience, we’ve found a new go-to spot. While I can’t speak for everyone, our experience at DIG was superb, and I highly recommend...
Read moreI’ve visited DIG a couple of times and tried a variety of items from their menu. Here’s my take: Positives: -The flourless brownie is absolutely delicious, though for the price, the portion feels a little small. -Both the maple glazed crispy tofu and crispy chicken are standout dishes. Perfectly cooked and flavorful! -Roasted sweet potatoes are perfectly seasoned and tender,a great addition to any meal. -The sauces and dressings they offer are all top-notch and really enhance the flavors of the dishes. -Portion sizes for the whole meal are great for the price—you definitely feel like you get your money’s worth. -There’s a lot of customization available, making it easy to create a meal that fits your preferences. Plus, ordering through the app is super convenient, and the rewards program is a nice bonus.
Negatives: -The mac and cheese was quite bland-definitely room for improvement in terms of flavor. -The mashed potatoes were tasty but very greasy, which feels out of place considering the brand’s focus on healthy food. -The farro greens were a bit of a letdown-chewy and lacking in flavor. -The broccoli chunks are huge and I wish they were cut in bite sized pieces. -The focaccia bread was chewy and nothing exceptional. -One downside with to-go orders: salads get soggy by the time you’re ready to eat them.
Overall, DIG has a lot of great offerings, but there are a few areas that could use some...
Read moreThis is a healthier alternative to Chipotle and Mezeh's type of build-a-bowl spot. From my understanding, some of the menu items here are seasonal while most of it stays the same. I love how ALL of the options offered here are well thought out to be more on the health-conscious side. It felt kind of like the salad bar at Whole Foods except DIG has its unique taste. I felt good after having a DIG bowl like I was having all the healthy energy. (It could also be my mind playing tricks on me but I did feel good!) I wish it was a bit closer to me because I'd be coming here more often.
How does it work? You walk up to build a bowl like you'd at any Chipotle or Mezeh. Then you pick a base like brown rice, farro (which was new to me!), and some greens. Then, you pick two sides like sweet potatoes, carrots, beans, avocado, etc. Next, you pick a protein. The seasonal chicken they had was so delicious! You can also get a third side to replace your protein. Drizzle your favorite sauce and that's it! Depending on your choices, it'll cost you just $10 to $15. Whole Food bar can't beat DIG!
I saw some comments complaining about the staff but I had absolutely no issue. The plywood-based setup shouldn't work but it's somehow okay and fits the place just fine. Don't forget to try their ginger mint lemonade and the carrot cake. I heartily...
