I was really excited having just moved to the area to find our new Chinese restaurant. After reading all of the positive reviews we chose Yens. We ordered our food at 6:35pm this evening. We got a confirmation text but not a receipt or full order confirmation. It said it would be 30-45 minutes. At the 55 minute mark I called the restaurant as we had not received our food and asked really politely what they thought the ETA was going to be. They said the driver was just now out with the order. We live 6 minutes via Google maps from this restaurant. I waited 15 minutes before calling again and stating we still didnt have our food. They said they thought it had been delivered but would call the driver and call me back. About 10 minutes later they call me back and say they delivered my food to my neighbors home and they accepted the order. I asked why and they stated I put the wrong address by one digit. I had checked the address 3 times before ordering so I found this unlikely but of course it could have happened. I have no evidence of what was entered as they do not send you a full order confirmation and you cannot go back on the website page. I was like oh that's really weird, well that was my food so I dont know why they would have accepted it. The said over the phone, "no problem, we will remake you a fresh order" and I said "thank you, i appreciate that. To make it easier on you all i will come pick it up!" I then got in my car and drove over to the restaurant. When I arrived they seemed to know who I was without me saying and they approached me saying that my food would be ready soon and proceeded to tell me over and over how this was my fault and not theirs. In front of all their customers so that was really embarassing. I just politely thanked them for remaking the food and sat to wait. The server came over again and let me know they adjusted the order to give me 10% off. I was thankful for the 10% refund and expressed my gratitude. She left and came back a minute later asking for my card. I explained that I had already paid for the order with tax delivery and a 20% tip for food that I hadn't received. She said "oh you already paid!" I said yes and she left. She came back a minute later and said that I had to pay again for the order but with the 10% discount. I advised that i wasn't going to pay again because I already paid for everything including delivery and tip.... she insisted it was my fault so I had to pay. I let her know that they did not mention paying again over the phone or I would not have agreed or driven over, she said she hadn't realized I had paid. I told her it didnt make any sense that if I hadn't paid I would only have to pay $55 but since I had paid they needed me to give them $135. I said I am not paying again I'm sorry for your trouble but I would rather leave empty handed then pay over $135 for dinner when I am getting $50 worth of food. I advised i didnt have the money on my card to charge this twice. I said i would leave and she kept pressing me to stay and pay them and i kept calmly saying no i really cant afford to pay again. I know it is not her fault but she was very pushy. She kept speaking to the manager right in front of me and he was obviously not budging on this. So after 2 hours since I ordered my food I left the restaurant really upset, embarrassed, extremely hungry and $70 poorer. On top of this I asked for an explanation of what happened with my neighbors. Apparently they said they didnt order and were confused as to why they got the food but said maybe a roommate ordered it. I asked them why they didnt confirm the name and phone number with them since they seemed confused and that info was printed on the bag..and I had already called them about it. They did not have a response to this question. It is also not cool that my neighbor just took my food and didnt call the number or realize they didnt order it....but that's another story for a different forum. Overall, Yens kitchen is focused only on their bottomline and not the customers in...
Read moreI had never been to this restaurant before so I thought I would give it a try. Sushi restaurants are some of my favorite places to go and I often visit other places around Ashburn.
In reviewing the menu, I saw they had tekka don (sashimi tuna on rice). I asked if I could have sake don (salmon on rice) instead even if for an up charge. I was informed they do not do that here (even though virtually every other sushi place I’ve ever been will accommodate this).
So instead, I ordered the sashimi platter or whatever they called it here. It came with an assortment of fish (3 kinds I didn’t care for and salmon) with no rice at all. The waiter did kindly offer white rice, but as everyone knows (except maybe the staff in this place?) white rice is not the same as sushi rice. Additionally, after the waiter brought this rice to my table, another waitress began speaking to him in what I assume is Chinese, and seemed to be displeased with the fact that he brought it to me. I say that because they were having that conversation right in front of my table while they were looking at me. Uncomfortable.
If you really want a good sushi place and you’re in Ashburn, go to Akira instead. They’re super sweet there and the food is far superior. They also don’t fight with their customers … as in they actually attempt to provide a service that the customer wants (isn’t that what customer service is supposed to be about?).
Also, if you don’t leave them a tip despite their rude and confrontational behavior, they will literally follow you into the parking lot to demand that you leave them one. I’m literally not kidding. I was buckling my seatbelt and getting ready to drive away when I heard a knock at the window and one of the waitresses had the absolute gall to demand a tip despite the horrid service.
I will not be back - and I recommend that no one else bother with this place either. Save yourself the time and money and find a...
Read moreWe've been patronizing this restaurant since 2018 and always were very satisfied with our experiences. The food is out of this world tasty (both from Sushi and Chinese menus), brought to the table amazingly quickly, in quite big portions and presented nicely. The service always was very nice from all of the servers dressed in the red shirts and even had a pleasure chatting with them sometimes about this or that : ). But last two times we were served with a different server who was dressed in a black shirt with a pony tail hair do. And we've noticed that both times we didn't have clear communication with her (particularly by the end of the meal, when we'd ask her about containers for leftovers and let her know that we want to pack ourselves). Both times she did exactly opposite taking the food from the table and packing it herself. And BOTH TIMES we brought home a leaking mess from some of the containers instead of well packed food (actually it is the main reason WHY we want to pack our leftovers BY OURSELVES!). We have to drive about 90 minutes home and it's important to us so the food was not leaking! The most annoying part is that you ask her for plastic type containers and she packs in the styrofoam containers dishes with lots of sauce in them, and even repacks what you had a chance to pack yourself right in front of you, which in our opinion was very rude and ignorant. We always ordered on big scale (not less than 7 dishes just for 2 of us) to have big leftovers for later, and at the same time to support the business we like leaving generous tips of not less than 25%. But after not one but two annoying experiences with this waitress, leaving with uneasy feeling we don't think we'd want to come back no matter how great the...
