I was so appalled when this happen today! I am a frequent flyer at Ava’s but now I’m completely rethinking that which saddens my heart. Today my friend, who has special needs and is non-verbal, and I walked in to place our order of donuts! My friend that was with me ran in the store jumping and frantically looking for bathroom, I asked the lady behind the counter if they had a restroom…she looked at me and ignored me. By this point my friend had ran all the way to the back and the front seeking out a bathroom. I asked the lady behind the counter again if they had a restroom, she proceeded to take a big sigh then look at me then look at my friend with a disgusted look on her face and say quietly “yes but for paying customers only”. I, being an advocate for my friend, quickly spoke up said “well I have ever intention of paying, my friend really just needs to use the bathroom first”. She proceeded to then roll her eyes and start to take her gloves back off, I knew then that she was going to be no help to my friend or I. I did tell her that her attitude was not appreciated and that we go ahead and leave. I watched my friend almost urinate on themselves after we left from having to hold it throughout Ava’s Donuts. I’m not sure if it was because my friend was jumping around and actively seeking a bathroom for themselves and could not verbalize it or if it was just a off day for her but, I hope nobody else has to feel the way I did when we walked out of that store. My heart broke for my friend just because of the way she looked at my friend with disgust and automatically assumed that we were there to use their...
Read moreNever in a million years did I think I'd be writing a review on doughnuts or donuts. However you spell them. This place right here..will make you think twice before you go get in line for those frozen DD donuts or those glazed Krispy Kreme ones which are still good but this place Ava's has the best I've ever had. My absolute favorite in the two times I've been is the cinnamon crumble. Yes it's messy and it gets everywhere but the softness and deliciousness of that donut is worth all the mess it makes. It has the word crumble in it..what else would you expect? It melts in your mouth and makes you want another one. My father and I went yesterday after lunch and I had to get my cinnamon crumble. This was only the second time Id been here but my first experience was so amazingly great, I'd gladly come back. I got the last two red velvet ones for my kids and my dad got hos usual sour cream. I heard how great the bear claw is so I got the last one and my dad got an apple fritter for the next day. 6 donuts with tip out the door for $12. WORTH EVERY PENNY!🤤 I let my dad try the bear claw and that is now his new favorite. He's been there so many times to always be sold out of them and he finally was able to see how amazing they are. I'd give this place more than 5 stars if possible. Its unreal how a small shop like Ava's packed between a Salsaritas and a Starbucks can change your mind about ever wanting to wait in a drive thru for a donut. Just go here and you wont be...
Read moreI had Ava’s donuts a few years ago and remembered them being pretty good, so I asked my sweet husband to pick up some sour cream cake donuts (my favorite) for our anniversary. What he brought back were sadly the worst donuts I’ve had in my life. They tasted strongly of old, funky oil and were burned to the point I can’t believe they had them out for sale! My husband is a not a cake donut guy so I’m sure he didn’t realize they should be a nice golden brown instead of this dull, dark brown. If these had been the last donuts of the day or sold as a “burned batch” I could see them not being super fresh, but these were purchased before noon. They should’ve been labeled as an off batch or thrown away. I’ve never written a negative review of a small business but these donuts are NOT cheap and should at least be cooked properly when sold at a premium price and they’re the only things you make. Such a...
