Thankfully we purchased our tickets online. We arrived and were greeted by a surly girl who begrudgingly scammed our phones. The wait for concessions wasn’t so long, but it also wasn’t very pleasant. The counter worker, Santiago, was less than welcoming and also seemed put out to be taking our order. We had a few questions about the menu since we couldn’t see anything advertising combos. We never answered our question completely but did try to upsell us from the bucket of soda to a barrel for only $1 - who needs 54oz of soda?? But I digress. We tried to brighten his day with pleasantries such as “please” and “thank you” delivered with beaming smiles. All of which received ZERO response or even acknowledgement that we were speaking at all.
The movie started approximately 20 minutes after “showtime”, but I understand that’s standard practice for some theaters. 10 minutes into the movie, a family of 4 (one of whom was a kid around the age of 8 or 9) came in loudly trying to find their seats and when they finally did, two other people were sitting there. So those two went to their seats and they found other people sitting THERE. So the theater staff had to come in and sort things out. The entire ordeal could have been avoided (or at the very least settled within one minute), instead it took about 10. 10 very loud & distracting minutes during the movie.
Now during the movie, that little kid sitting next to me was chomping on his popcorn, open-mouthed, one kernel at a time. It sounded like he was eating tin foil. At this point I’m questioning if anyone would have even noticed if my cell phone would have chimed. Still I adhered to the request on the screen to be mindful of others.
Then end of the movie was my favorite. I said farewell to the Regal forever. I have no...
Read moreWell, when we got there there was nobody to sell tickets and we were directed to a touch screen kiosk.. after we got our tickets we went to the concession stand and bought some candy, a beer & asked for a truly. After paying and having my beer handed to me the woman at the register looked at another employee and said "I'm going to the bathroom" and disappeared without finishing our order. After this interaction I proceeded to ask another employee for our other drink and was told that they "weren't allowed by law to sell alcohol because of their age." I replied with, is there an adult here? And they said "that was her, sorry" we went to our movie and about halfway through I attempted to go back to the concession stand where I spoke with an employee named Lena. I asked her if she was old enough to sell alcohol and her reply was "I am old enough to sell alcohol, but I won't serve someone who is intoxicated" first of all, who is she to tell me I'm intoxicated. Second, I had one drink in your establishment which cost more than a 6 pack literally anywhere else and I was willingly trying to buy another. I had one beer and then some self righteous employee of yours took it upon themselves to turn me (and your profit) away. We spoke to the manager on duty as we left. (before the movie even ended) and she apologized for Lena's behavior and said that it was all a mistake. That said, this was a totally unacceptable experience that led to us not even caring to finish the movie we came to your establishment to see. In a failing industry you need to focus on doing better and employing better people. By the way, we saw "the strays" on opening night and we were 2 of 6 people in...
Read moreTook the family to see "Venom" on a Saturday evening at 8pm. Because we purchased our tickets online and on advance, check-in was quick and easy with no line to wait in. Concessions, however, were a different story.
We waited in line for concessions for 20 minutes and spent $60 on nachos, popcorn, caramel corn & 3 drinks.
The condition of the theater chairs was disgusting, with the faux leather worn off and peeling in many places, overall giving it a shabby rundown appearance. The elbow room was barely existent as my neighbor and I constantly bumped each other over the cracked and peeling armrest.
While the food and beverage options were decent and the snack selection was okay, I couldn't help but wish for a more up-to-date and well-maintained facility, especially given its location in the Biltmore Plaza. Popcorn was scattered and crushed throughout the walkways. When we pay luxury prices for a luxury theater, we expect a luxurious feel and it didn't meet the bar of expectations. Long story short, this theater DESPERATELY needs their recliners replaced. They are such uncomfortable eye sores that I couldn't concentrate on anything else.
I personally found the movie to be slow & boring, but my husband & son enjoyed the film. While the experience could have been better in terms of comfort and ambiance, the quality of the film made up for some of the theater's shortcomings. We probably won't be returning until they update their seats. Not when there are 4 other theaters in town that offer a more comfortable...
