Read moreMy husband and I ate here recently & I have to say we throughly enjoyed EVERY SINGLE PART of our experience. We are from out of town & as such, when inquiring about must try places in the Asheville area were recommended to try this place. I absolutely loved the Gouda & was pleasantly surprised by my palates receptiveness of the blackened seasoning I felt was used through most menu items, as it certainly existed in both my husband and I’s entree’s. Every dish we ordered was a hit, no misses, no notes & nary a crumb did he nor myself dare to leave behind haha because let me tell you ?! THE BREAD!? IT ATE THE WAY I ATE…I MOST CERTAINLY ATE IT ALL the way UP! I’m not an “every type of garlic bread STAN” but I could have enjoyed the bread on it’s own as my whole entree…i didnt…but would & you bet I did use it as a vessel, to scrape up every bit of the Gouda remnants off my plate…no Gouda & no garlicky crumbs left behind because I used my crumbs to lick the plate haha Anyway for me, I’ve always considered there to be but only one aspect of a new dining experience to be the necessary, defining PEAK that signs, seals & really determines my experience & thus my willingness to recommend & come back again...& that’s my perception of the staff. The real garlic Gouda of Nine Mile taking more of our time and money in the future was our lovely waitress. She was not only knowledgeable on the full menu, & all types of drinks…she also boasted an unforgettablely beautiful name, aka the most memorable, Ms Vika. As if being kind, confident, competent and capable weren’t enough to be be remembered by…she also boasted this remarkably peaceful & welcoming demeanor. You could tell she centers human beings at the core of her motivations, by her mindfulness of other’s in tandem to that of herself. I don’t know how long she’s been working for this company, but regardless, we be remiss if we didn’t mention they both my husband & I both felt taken care of by her, she seems like a person who’s worth ethic exudes that of upper management…haha heck she could be upper management (we didn’t exactly clarify by asking her) but on the off chance her humility exceeds our current understanding, she is one to watch & or prep for a promotion towards it. The way she took time without wasting time to ensure we were fully informed, answering the questions we did ask regarding the menu, in her doing so she all but guaranteed we could, & would (as we definitely did) order items we would be able to fully enjoy. All to say, because I don’t know the max character count allotted for these reviews…our waitress Vika enamored us with the way she radiated the morals of someone who puts their whole heart into whatever they are doing, & we will be able to reflect on this memory in the future and quickly remember her as we will surely recall her light hearted banter & peaceful demeanor. And the way she seamlessly was able to make not only us feel cared for throughout our dinning experience, but the way we saw her allotting this level of care for her other tables. Super authentic. The staff is what really makes or breaks any sort consumer based experience…given it’s sole ability to not only loose that one customers patronage, alongside all those who tell of/ learn of/ read a review of a their experience. No matter how easy it is to find parking, nor how throughly they enjoyed the products purchased…the staff remains to be both the final editor & the sole eraser that could act to warp the experience & erase the willingness to return. Vika you are a light & I am manifesting our next meal already, at your location, seated in your...
I was excited for weeks to take my husband to dinner at 9 Mile for his birthday. He loves spicy Caribbean food and we previewed the menu before our visit. We arrived fairly early, around 5pm, however there were no tables available for around 30 minutes, so we opted to sit at the bar to eat. For drinks, my husband enjoyed one of their IPA’s and I ordered the Painkiller, both of which were great. Our salads were fresh and the dressings were flavorful. We started with the pita & hummus for an appetizer, which was spicier than I expected, but was absolutely delicious. For our meals, I ordered the Mount Zion and my husband ordered the Back-A-Yard Bowl. Prior to ordering, I asked the staff member taking our orders if their jerk seasoning was spicy. She replied that it was not spicy at all and that you could order it as spicy as you’d like, explaining the different levels. My husband got the spiciest they could make and I just ordered the Mount Zion, since she said that the jerk seasoning was not spicy. I have severe acid reflux and was just looking forward to a flavorful meal. My husband absolutely loved his entree and I really wish I could say the same. I took one small bite of the tuna and ate one single piece of broccoli and it was so spicy it was completely inedible to me. It got worse though, I became nauseous and in a LOT of pain. When we asked for take away containers, the server asked if it was spicy enough for my husband (he replied that it was) and then turned to me and commented, “yours was a pretty spicy one too!” She then handed us our take away containers, then walked away. This was perplexing and honestly upsetting, as I’d specifically asked if the jerk seasoning was spicy and she’d said it was “not spicy at all”. The nausea and pain I experienced continued to worsened and four hours later I was still very, very sick and vomiting. As I write this, it is the next morning and I am still not feeling well. I realize that everyone has a different tolerance for spice/heat, but my meal was in no way, shape, or form “not spicy at all.” Thus, this is a mixed review. If you like your food HOT, this place will be a great experience for you. If you have acid reflux and prefer your food flavorful WITHOUT heat, opt for...
Read moreNever not even again! The male manager was an absolute narcissist! I cannot believe how horrible he treats the patrons who's supporting them even when HE IS 100% WRONG. The random accusations he came up with when he got my order wrong was astounding to me. Since I was right and spoke very clearly and load enough for normal people could hear me and he wanted to argue that he was right and he didn't mess up my order and I would like what I had originally said which was nothing even close to what he wrote down. He tried to make me feel guilty for having to throw out the plate "he dreamt up"! I ordered one drink when I sat down, which wasn't all that great and then another which I had two sips out of and clearly not intoxicated, since I had just came from home where I had woke from a nap and hour before. Food came from to from another waiter, which I didn't check the accuracy immediately since it was a drop and split to do other things. It took me 10+ minutes to get his attention just to let him know it wasn't right because he was having a very close conversation with another employee. Then as we argued back and forth for a few minutes he said I was over served and slurred my speech, which was not true on either account. I told him that I have hearing problem, tinnitus, and if he has one I'm not knocking him for it. He had dirty fingernails so I could assume he may moonlight as a mechanic and may also suffer from some hearing loss. Not to mention the face mask he was barely hanging on. After that I decided to give him the mango margarita back as well. So this carried on a few more moments and by that time he's all tangled with his emotions and knocks the drink over I just gave back to him. I asked him if he's been drinking since he couldn't hear correctly, wasting resources, and arguing with the customers. He said YES! I'm sitting their not believing what going on in an establishment that I have been to many times before. Then he asks me to leave so I said you bet I'm not ...
