I’ve lived here in Asheville basically my whole life, and decided to try Biscuit Head for the first time this morning. Huge disclaimer if you’re planning to go: There is essentially no parking. The parking lot is really difficult to turn into and out of when all the spots are taken. They are currently having to share their parking lot with the Barber shop next door, and I’m assuming a heavy majority of parking is for employees. They have signs posted everywhere saying to not park at Margaritas next door, as they will tow your car. I can definitely now see why they have 3 different locations here in Asheville, as they all have almost no parking. I decided to walk there from my apartments, as I live close by. Long Shoals and Hendersonville road is a bit of an unfriendly area for pedestrians as there are very few crosswalks, and most people turning right will not stop for you when you have the signal to cross. Luckily, it looks like they are expanding the parking lot, so it won’t be as bad in the future. As for the food itself- I wanted to enjoy it so badly! It’s by no means your southern grandmas home cooking, but that is to be expected by looking at the menu. I still unfortunately wasn’t a fan, and took the majority home in a to-go box. I’d say next time I’d steer clear of the savory dishes, and go ahead and get something sweet. It’s on the more expensive side of things, and I paid a little over $20 after taxes as one person. What did really impress me about Biscuit head was their staff. Extremely friendly and made me feel welcomed there. Seemed like the staff has a good teamwork ethic and are really close. The food came out super fast as well! Didn’t even take 5 minutes. I’d go back just for how friendly and fast the...
Read moreReally, I just keep trying to love this place. Cool owners and employees, great service. Lines down the street and growing. I love traditional fusion cuisine, and am open minded.
This morning I received a salmon Benedict that had cold Hollandaise sauce, room temp biscuit, salmon, pickled onions and two poached eggs. The eggs nestled in between all that cold stuff were, of course, cold. Yuck. The wait staff quickly replaced it in a professional manner and it was explained that their Hollandaise is served at "room temperature", not the customary 145 degrees. Well, the room must have been pretty cold, because the entire arrangement, which had a classic lineup of great ingredients was just cold and unpleasant.
My replacement was a fried chicken biscuit "sandwich" that came, surprisingly, with a bone-in, fried chicken thigh. A big, fat chicken bone in the middle of a "sandwich". It was all tasty, but just another head scratcher for me. The biscuits are always doughy and under-salted.
They have a lovely jam and butter bar. The fried chicken is always perfect and tasty. If you go by the wild popularity, evidenced by full parking lots and long lines, this place must be doing something right. Just not my cup of tea.
I'd recommend giving it a try, my head scratching, yucked out moments might just be the bee's...
Read moreWe’ve eaten at Biscuit Head before and knew it was on the pricey side, but we decided to splurge for what used to be a great breakfast experience. Unfortunately, things have changed quite a bit—especially the quality of the food—and not for the better. The staff also seemed different this time, and maybe that’s part of it.
We ordered 2 biscuits and 2 drinks, and the total came to $34.84, which felt steep even if the food had been excellent. Sadly, it wasn’t. The biscuits were extremely dry—almost dangerously so—and the chicken biscuit had so much fat that I had to take it apart to remove some. On top of that, the gravy poured over it was spicy with no warning on the menu, which made it even harder to enjoy.
One of the biggest concerns was the person in charge (not sure if it was the manager) who was wearing a full-body animal zip-up outfit, including a hood—maybe a poodle costume? It felt unprofessional and honestly took away from the dining experience.
To be fair, they did have a clear notice about an additional $0.75 per egg charge due to rising egg prices, so we ended up paying an extra $2.25 for 3 eggs. That part I can accept, but overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth the price. It’ll be a long time before I consider coming...
