Edit: owner still did nothing about abusive waiter who saves people's receipts and card number to ridicule them so no stars is deserved because unprofessional and sick. Still no response after being afraid my credit card information has been stolen thanks to the waiter who saved the receipt.
The only reason I used to give this two stars is because the food was delicious however I want to talk about the waiter who is very rude and unprofessional on July 15th of 2022. Now, he was very polite on the 14th, previous day before the incident. Very nice and what not, answered my questions. Cool, right?
My partner gave me money to buy food since i get paid on Fridays. Thursday was good and I came back the next day to there because the food was healthy and my partner encouraged it and I got paid. The same waiter seated me but instead of asking me what I wanted to drink he harassed and guilted me and asked me why I didn't give him a tip which generally I do give tips but like I said my partner gave me money for food and I paid them back. So imagine this young waiter talking loudly and guilting a young man in a leg case about not giving him a tip because apparently he only gets $2 an hour which I spoke to the owner and according to the owner the waiters get paid 30 to 40 dollars an hour so either one of them is lying and they need to talk to each other or shut down the business because there's too much miscommunication.
It is not right that a customer feels unsafe because of a waiter has nothing better to do than to look at someone's receipt and guilt them about them not giving them a tip that one day. It is very unprofessional on his part and a customer should not be harassed because of it as I am a very generally Fair person. It is like me saying 'hey I got a leg brace why don't you give a discount', which is very guilting. That is what the waiter did, and he even insulted me by saying I bought a lot which the place is expensive, but alright. Lunch box, soup, and fried cheese cake. Sorry for treating myself, a customer, who paid around $25 which apparently to the waiter makes me rich or something? Dude I paid for my meal. According to some reviews and what other locals told me, the waiters guilt anyone if they don't get a tip which is ridiculous. Everyone is struggling, the world does not revolve around you. Please, customers, be cautious. I have not returned since I was harassed out of the restaurant. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.
I really hope the owner will talk to me again or at least to the waiter. I was really hoping on coming back, but that is not happening until the issue...
Read moreWe found this little gem while traveling to Asheville to pick some stuff up for my brother. While we were searching we didn't find any other Korean options so we decided to give Stone Bowl a chance. With it being the only real Korean place e could find, we weren't expecting the most authentic flavors but we can never pass up a chance to try a Korean spot.
When we entered the front doors, the place was nicely decorated and had a really welcoming feel to it. We were greeted and told we could sit anywhere we would like. When we were brought the menu we were surprised at how many options it had and how great sounding and looking everything was.
We started out with some traditional Kimbap. Kimbap is Kimbap, and Stone Bowl definitely delivered...but my favorite surprise was the dipping sauce they brought out with it. I've never had a sauce like that served with Kimbap before and it was a very very nice addition.
The three of us decided to all order stone bowls but with different meats. When the food came the main thing I was discouraged about was the lack of banchan that was brought out with it. Luckily for Stone Bowl, the couple of dished they do serve are packed with so much good flavor that it reminds me of a good home cooked meal by my Korean family. I will say that corn in the stone bowl was a little odd as I've never had it served like that before but it did offer a nice flavor and texture to the dish. All the meats tasted great and so did the ingredients that made up the bowls.
After letting the bowl sit for a minute and crispen up the rice in the bottom, I poured some of the gochujang and the kimbap sauce on my bowl, mixed it up, and devoured it!
Service, atmosphere, and food were all great. I will definitely be trying Stone Bowl again next time I am...
Read moreI was craving kimchi and something spicy on a recent mountain vacation and this place satisfied both of those cravings. I was also in search of a place where my mother and I could eat that would satisfy her but also give me a few vegetarian options. This place ticked all of my boxes.
Firstly, the sides were amazing. There was kimchi, daikon kimchi, gimbap, potatoes, and three other sides that were in the pickled vegetable category. All delicious. My mother ordered the stir fried udon and she said it was great. I ordered a kimchi stone bowl, and honestly it has been one of the best meals I've had in the past few months, I can't get it off my mind. I can't speak for how authentic the food is, but from my point of view it was one of the best Korean restaurants I've been to. There is gochujang? on the table for you to adjust the spice level to your taste, but do be aware that some of the dishes come spicy already.
Just so you know how good it is, we went around lunchtime and there were a few other tables filled as well, but no one was talking. Everyone was so into the food that all you heard was the sounds of the sizzling stone bowls and the people sniffling because of the spice. If it isn't going to clear out my sinuses, then it's not spicy enough.
Love this place. Seriously trying to plan a trip to Asheville ASAP just so I can...
