I normally would recommend this place to anyone in my family or my friends but today me and my brother and mother went here for dinner to celebrate her birthday and got chicken wings for .75 cents apiece. We arrived at 4pm not know that the wings did not go on sell until 5pm so we order two starters to pass the time then we order 75 wing like we always do but this time we was only able to get about 5 wings each and when we got ready to leave the woman up front told my family that we was not allowed to take the food home that we had to sit there and eat the wings. Mind you that we sit there in the restaurant for an hour and half and our bill was over 100 dollars so I didn't see what the problem was... but I feel like if they have rules then the management need to take responsibility and post something up instead of just saying it dine in only..... very disappointed in this experience and probably will not be back which is sad because I've been a loyal customer for 4 years.....

for the reply to the owner: I didn't get told anything because I stepped outside an I didn't give the a bad review due to the wings. I'll glad pay full price for the wings bc they are worth it and alittle fyi for you this was the first time I've came in on a Monday for the wing special bc I normally pay full price and get two 50 counts.. so no I didn't get over on the waitress , I gave the review bc my mother came outside on her birthday telling me that she was rudely treated is why I left the bad review. The past is the past but the ill manor of the way thinks was handle and the Assumption in the comment back to me saying I knew what I was doing was wrongfully stated an it my point exactly...... the food deserve every bit of 5 stars honestly was one of my personal favorite...

We try to get to East Village Grille every year or two just to experience an old-school, Greek-owned, blue plate special spot, with the extras of burgers, wings and sports bar items.

Yesterday, we got there early, so there was no parking issue (if you come at peak times, expect you'll have to park in the lot up the hill or farther away). We got to choose our own table and settled down to look through the menu. There is a big variety of things to order, from burgers and sandwiches, to wings of various sorts, to "signature plate" of things like steaks, fried chicken, chicken livers and such, plus beers and cocktails.

The staff is always friendly. I decided on a beer -- a Greek bottled beer ($4.50) called Mythos -- and the small Tiger sauce wings (6 for $10.25). The lager was good, the wings were good if you like'em big and messy. For my main I ordered the fried chicken livers with smashed potatoes and green beans (a bargain at $14) along with gravy. These aren't my favorite livers in the world, but they're not bad, the green beans were Southern-style (cooked for a long time) and the serving of potatoes was huge. The gravy was good. This was more than I could eat, so I took some home. My wife had the Reuben, which also was good, with a big side of fried onion rings. ($13 including an upcharge of $1 for the onion rings). Very good.

Our dinner with two beers, a shared appetizer of wings and two hearty entrees came to about $50, before tip. We left full and satisfied. East Village Grille isn't exactly a place to find interesting or subtle food, but it's friendly, reasonably priced and with a bunch of menu items that local folks enjoy. That's why...

We have eaten here several times and enjoyed the food and service but today was a very disappointing in terms of food and restaurant manager reacting. I ordered chicken salad on a pita but when I tasted it, the chicken salad tasted funny and as though it was starting to spoil. Reluctantly I sent it back for a replacement that was a different dish. Although our initial food came very quickly, the replacement dish came very late and my husband actually finished all of his dish before it arrived. It is awkward to sit and watch someone eat and to then get your food late. By the time the replacement dish came, I was uncomfortable and did not like the replacement dish. I asked to see the manager. She came and did not give her name. She crouched down next to the table and told me the date on the chicken salad had NOT expired and went into a long discussion of how they date their chicken salad and that it is not a popular dish. She went on and on and finally took the second dish away and said she would take my dishes off the check. It would have been so much better had she told me in the first place tha she was removing my food from our bill instead of going into a long diatribe on how they date their chicken salad. She never apologized for my experience and was not gracious. She did remove all charges from our bill. But I would have felt so much better if she had handled this experience differently and I would feel better about East Village Grille and about...

My husband and I were visiting NC and decided to try EVG. The first night we ate there it was extremely crowded and very noisy but we expected that for a local restaurant. The service was good and the food was good. The second time we stopped in the late afternoon, and it was a completely different experience. The waitress we started out with, we really were enjoying talking with her but after she brought our food out we were never waited on again. We had to flag someone down to get a refill on our drinks and then again to get our check. No one every told us that our waitress had left for the day. Food is good but service can be iffy and it will always be busy and noisy bc it's so popular with the locals. My favorite was the chicken samich, the chicken breast is large, and has bacon and pimento cheese, lettuce and tomato. The sweet potato fries were great! My husband had the philly cheese steak sandwich, the first night and enjoyed it. The second night he had the Attila the Hen sandwich and said he really enjoyed it. It has jalapeños but he said it wasn't too spicy. Restrooms were clean. It has a bar that serves several types of beer. They offer mixed drinks too.

fantastic little spot. we had the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, the fish & chips, and the Tiger Wings. the poppers were excellent, very tasty and came with a maple syrup sauce to dip in. the syrup went well with the bacon wrap, and the subtle spice of the peppers was balanced by the cheese inside. A+ the fried fish & chips were also delicious. extremely crispy outside, just the way you'd want it to be, and the fish inside was so tender it just fell apart and melted in your mouth. serving size was excellent for what you pay, 2 very large fillets. the best part though was their signature breaded Tiger Wings. omg soooo good! the were crispy, salty, sweet, spicy, tangy, all the things youd want in a delicious chicken wing. the tiger sauce was an interesting mix of zesty bbq and like a teriyaki. very tasty! service was fantastic as well. it was a very busy night, but our server was extremely attentive, helped us pick good things on the menu, drinks never got empty, and she was extremely friendly to talk to. overall great experience, and i would totally go back again!
