Fantastic spot for gourmet dinner at a reasonable price! After several frustrating restaurant experiences in Asheville (2 hr waits, etc) we had the good fortune of meeting Josh, the bar manager of Filo/Post 70 at another Asheville haunt. He assured us that he could make reservations for us at his restaurant (rare for Asheville) for the next evening, and described their menu (rack of lamb, braised short rib, lobster mac and cheese, etc). We gladly took him up on the opportunity. He did not disappoint! Josh had a uniquely charming table ready for us and suggested some great wine and cocktails to start. We enjoyed his refreshing enthusiasm, professionalism, and menu knowledge so much that we ordered 6 different appetizers / entrees. They were all fabulous! The mushroom risotto and short rib over over farro were both to die for, as were the wings (jumbo, homemade sauce) and lobster mac and cheese (generous lobster, great consistency!). The rack of lamb was perfectly medium rare, and the chef came to the table to introduce himself. The friendly owner even served one of the courses himself. Overall, a 5++ star experience at very good value for travelers hungry for a top notch experience. This visually appealing and service-oriented restaurant has a true gem in Josh and their chef, and we'll be making several reservations for Post 70 for our next trip to the Asheville area. Thanks for everything Josh!! Kurt and Annette

Filo is an east Asheville classic. I've been visiting since long before I moved to the area, but now I'm even more grateful to have it nearby. Good coffee and great baked goods, but the stand out for me is the evening cocktail and dinner menu. The specialty cocktails are unique but not overdressed, and I've liked everything I've ordered food wise so far. Service wise, some of the bartenders and baristas are friendlier than others. Personally I don't feel that an extroverted bartender is a requirement for me to like a place, and the more social staff balance out the dryer ones. Love the space at Filo, but the art needs a refresh as of my most recent visit. No shade to the artist, but the current paintings just don't do anything for the space. Next to such a grand bar set up they just look a little childish, and if the point is for them to sell- they're way too large and expensive for that to ever happen on a whim. Pretentious art enthusiast rant aside, the vibe of Filo is like a moody library study, with a beautiful sliding ladder liquor cabinet. Definitely worth a visit on your next trip thru East Avl.

Walk up and step into a castle in Asheville, NC. That is what is feels like to open the door and enter Filo. I had the double espresso macchiato with caramel. It was the perfect afternoon pick me up. This is not Starbucks! Filo also features a full bar. Most of the baked goods are homemade. There are several gluten free options. In the evening it’s a wine bar with craft cocktails and small plates. The house was full with people in line during the mid afternoon. Throughout the facility are separate tables and quite spaces to talk, work, or study. It’s the perfect coffee shop. You literally feel like you’re sitting in someone’s luxurious but cozy castle home! Way to go Maria and team! You’ve got a hit happening right here. Go and ask the staff to let you ride on the sliding bar ladder. Talk about a nice and unique feature! Check out and like my photos. Let me know what you think! It’s located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway on Tunnel Road in Asheville, North Carolina. Biltmore Estate is nearby. It’s less than 1 mile from I-40. Take the exit! You’ll love Filo!

UPDATE: just found out they have a breakfast menu 😮🙌🏾. They have a sliding chalkboard with the menu items and that combined with foggy glasses from my mask I couldn’t see it 😄. Thankfully I asked and the board happened to be behind the coffee menu, so she slid it into view and voila! No avocado, I was hoping to get a bagel with avocado but I did end up trying the coconut cream cake and it is DIVINE 🤤. They also have lavender chai latte’s (didn’t notice that before so I am enjoying that with oat milk and I think this is the only way I will ever drink a lavender latte again lol 💝) ORIGINAL REVIEW: Filo has become my early morning caffeine fix for many reason during these changing times. For one, they practice social distancing having tape marked on the floor of how far apart to stand when waiting in line. Another is they wipe down the card reader and screen after EVERY person. They also have a hand sanitizer dispenser for customers (motion detected/handless function) right at the bar by the register. The barista was wearing mask and gloves making this an anxiety-free environment 💖. I appreciate they open at 7am still, even though I work from home I start at 7am and often need caffeine to get me going. Their pastries are yummy, I often get a orange cranberry scone but have tried their baklava (very sweet! 😋) and raspberry pastry (also very yummy!). I am glad they are staying open and sustaining a presence in East Asheville during these times- I gladly drive from North Asheville on cold mornings for their lavender oat...

What a gem! Last night we had the best experience. It was our first night and we had heard about the awesome food and cocktails coming out of this historic renovated prison/ veteran post/ bakery. Chef Kit masterfully our together some great menu items. We tried 3 of the Tapas Items. We started with a grilled Romain lettuce topped with a chick pea tahini vinaigrette light and delicious plus it’s a nice vegan option. We also had a French bread topped 12 hr marinated skirt steak cooked to perfection topped with aioli and a beautifully done chimichurri. Thud was so tasty and cooked to perfection. What a beautiful bite of perfection. After that it was on to the scallop mushroom risotto. Perfectly cooked scallops on a saffron rice risotto with chopped up mushrooms. Delicious! We also got the lobster Mac and cheese. This dish comes with a whole lobster tail, macaroni surrounded by 4 cheeses and topped with bread crumbs. We couldn’t stop eating it. Each bite was magical. Probably the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever ate. They have an amazing bar and bartender to compliment all of this we had a couple cocktails. I highly recommend the old fashioned. They also have some great seasonal drinks on their menu. Craft beers galore. What a treat to come here. Thank you post 70 and thank you...
