You guysâŚ.I canât believe I have to write this review. I never imagined a person cooking food at a McDonaldâs was capable of such atrocities. But a day has passed since this meal and itâs all I can think about. I thought I would sleep on it and let it go. But it was so horrible. I need to tell you about it.
I ordered from the mobile app. $5 meal deal and a double quarter pounder meal. Iâm sure that was part of the problem. McDonaldâs employees hate things like double quarter pounders. Singles they can make in advance and throw them in a bag when they are ordered. But doubles they usually cook to order. We waited (no exaggeration) half an hour. There was one car ahead of us when we got to the drive thru. The time we waited was long. But that wasnât the problem.
When the food finally came out it wasâŚunacceptable. I eat McDonaldâs often enough. Itâs a guilty pleasure. Itâs actually hard to mess up. Thereâs something great about a low quality consistent burger. This was not that. The burger was old. Stale maybe even. We still canât figure it out. The bun was hard like a rock. Not as a rock but on its way. My girlfriend and I took turns BANGING and knocking the entire burger on the dashboard in disbelief. It was like food I had never been served before. We debated for a few minutes whether to go back and complain. We were too embarrassed at what we were seeing to mention it to anyone. We didnât want to face whoever made this thing. It took half an hour the first time. There was no fixing it. So I tried the fries. They were stale and covered in salt. But it was better than whatever that burger would have done to me. My girlfriend thought her chicken nuggets were fine. Cold but fine. I was just glad she got to eat. I didnât really. Then we tried her McDouble. We were worried at this point to say the least. We both took a bite. They forgot a bunch of ingredients I think. Main one being any seasoning for the patty. We werenât surprised at that point.
I donât really know why Iâm writing this. I justâŚreally dont want whoever made this food to keep making food for the restaurant. This isnât a simple misstep. I have a feeling much of the food came out like that today. Not just ours. Please. Whoever was making the food that dayâŚkindly give them something else to do. Donât do this to your customers. Paying for it and waiting was bad enough. Iâm betting a lot of people ate that food yesterday. We canât do people like that. I donât care if the restaurant is short staffed or itâs hard to hire right now or any of that. Please donât let that person cook food anymore....
Read moreThere is nothing in this world that is perfect, no matter how much we try to seek out perfection. However, even perfection can be overrated as long as we find ourselves satisfied with the results we seek. Fastfood restaurants sometimes can make or break those satisfying moments.
McDonald's at River Ridge Marketplace in Asheville, North Carolina, in my opinion, is usually the "poster child" of satisfaction of fastfood in this region, or in regards to the area McDonald's anyway.
If I focus on the food that I ordered, I would have to raise awareness of the Quarter Pounder Deluxe.
The QPD reminds me so much of the McDLT, without the styrofoam. It is so delicious, with mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion added to the beef patty and sliced cheese. I'm not a pickle fan, but I will even munch on them to get the full experience of a deluxe.
However, this review isn't necessary about the food as much as it is about the drive-thru experience.
Let's just say, if there is an accountability for perfection, it would start at the River Ridge location. We are not perfect, no not one. But over the years, when I find myself hungry and over on the east side of town, this particular McDonald's seems to shine bright for almost every visit. What I am saying is the smooth transition through ordering and pick-up to the mere fact the order is usually correct. The consistency of a correct order at River Ridge is amazing. We often walk away from a typical fast food restaurant with a "bad taste" in our mouths. Something is amiss. Especially with ordering at drive-thru. But not the McDonald's at River Ridge.
What I order, is usually what I receive. There is nothing to address here, outside of the fact, the fries are sometimes not fresh. But to drive away knowing my order is correct, now that's satisfaction guaranteed. Not perfect at the end of the day, but satisfied. That's McDonald's at...
