Whit's Frozen Custard (Gerber Village) — Restaurant in Asheville

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised here. My friend is obsessed with a Whit's in Florida but I kept picturing soft serve custard with nothing IN it, etc etc. I'm not a big toppings person but if it's mint chips I expect the chips, you know ? Anyway, apparently this frozen custard is HARD. And although there were a few ordering hiccups, this was the best "ice cream" I've had around here. To be honest that's not saying much because I have been SEVERELY under impressed with Ashevolle ice cream. But this stuff is quality. You can notice this is custard due to the thick texture which isn't my favorite but it is what it is. Tonight me and my husband arrived at 9pm. They are open until 9:30pm. When my husband went in, he heard the female employee say, 'I swear if one more person comes in, I'm leaving.' My husband just ignored the rude comment and gave the other employee our order. I wanted a whitzer with almonds and chocolate. This same female employee then began to complain they were out of almonds at the front and she didn't want to go get more. Her coworker said 'just go get a new bag?' It was not a good customer service experience. Made us feel like a bother. The frozen custard is so delicious. We will continue to visit. We understand people have bad days...but they definitely need to evaluate their expectations on customer service. If you are going to make rude comments, at least be a little more...

Stopped in here the other day for a little treat. They had a special going on of a black cherry and chocolate mixture. It was the monthly special and a little more than the other ones on the menu, but they didn’t have a price. At eight dollars it felt a little expensive, but it tasted creamy and decadent and delicious. The service was quite good. All of the workers were very busy but friendly enough. A little chaotic to sit inside so I took it to go. A small certainly because as I said it Is quite rich. Might be good to share or have place of a meal.
