Honestly I am amazed at how bad this place went down hill. When I was younger my dad would take me here and it was great so I had good memories of it then. Last two times I went were just awful. I'll start off by saying that $30 for one plate of chicken and rice and dumplings is insane. We went to go sit down at tables and EVERY table was nasty, either had sauce or rice stuck to the table. I ended up cleaning our own table while the people at the front just sat there on their phone. There was literally stuff peeling off the walls and it looked like there was grease on some of the walls. I don't know how they stay open with the uncleanliness. Parking lot was completely empty as well as the restaurant except for the kids in there. I thought they were closed because of how barren the place was. On top of that the people working there ended up yelling at the kids a couple times which was awkward.
Now the worst part was the food. I was really excited to go get some food from there as I said earlier I had great memories of it from when I was younger. The chicken tasted like it was frozen and unthawed and cooked, extremely dry and had a weird sour taste to it. The rice was semi stale and the carrots were burnt, I ended up throwing half of them away. My stomach actually was hurting after I had eaten there and mind you this was the only thing I've eaten all day. We tried to get soda out of the fountain and two out of the three just did not taste like what it was supposed to be as well as the third being completely flat. We will not be returning here, I am completely disappointed in what this place has...
Read moreI have been eating at YOSHIDA’S for over 20 years. It has always been my favorite place to eat along with my kids. Everyone there knows me by first name. Tonight on Friday October, 20, 2023 I placed an order for take out. They close at 8:30. I literally walked in at exactly 8:30 (I got stuck in traffic). I walked in smiling and apologizing. The owner (THE WIFE) was at the register (there were people still sitting and eating). She didn’t say anything to me… was being very rude. But hey, that’s fine! I was late-ish 🤷♀️. So I didn’t say anything. She told me my total (which was almost $100) I gave her my card she swiped it… and then instead of turning the iPad my way to sign my name or to want my receipt… she rudely says “you don’t tip any way”…… I was COMPLETEY shocked that she would treat a customer who has always eaten there for two decades like that. I honestly thought the tipping question was just kind of protocol or something? She was yelling… and I did too.. I’m never confrontational…. But that was so messed up man. She said she doesn’t care if I don’t come back anymore. If I knew she had always wanted me to tip her for simply placing my order… I would have! Didn’t know it was an issue 🤷♀️ I’m just shocked on how a loyal customer was treated by the owner 🤦♀️ Guess I need a new favorite spot! I’ll stick with ICHIBAN and ASAKA is actually a great place, so I guess that’s the new spot! I ALWAYS TIP WHEN IM OUT EATING. If I can’t afford a tip… I...
Read moreI am so sad to leave such a review as this! I gave 2 stars for the chicken and chicken alone! First, the lady working the register, was the absolute rudest ever. No personality, not welcoming me to spend my money in this expensive establishment. I always want to go here every time I am in town from Chicago as when I lived here from 99-05 we started going to the Yoshida’s Restaurant in West Asheville. We would do the express at lunch all the time, my coworkers and I. I LOVED it! I am sad to say today will be the very last Yoshida’s Express experience in my lifetime. I can go anywhere and treated better for less. The food! The chicken still had a nostalgic taste to it. The fried rice and gross after taste, and the shrimp lacked flavor. The environment! Boy has this place gone downnnnn hill. Cleaning is not their strong suit. Everything just feels so filmy! The chairs. Tables. The garbage can outside has been cleaned in years. I am from Chicago I LOVE dive joints, but cleanliness shouldn’t be compromised. The sauce station, gross. I am so sad and disappointed. I hate to say goodbye! The owner has to see the decline in business, she need to treat people like she want their money instead of being made we are there. And clean with hot soapy bleach water! You may can save...
