A favorite of ours since they opened. We also enjoyed the chef’s past creations (Bouchon and creperie) but we prefer this atmosphere. Read on for a very detailed review.
Atmosphere: The courtyard is delightful; we even joined the pétanque club, though we have yet to attend any of the events due to travel schedule. We even sit outside in some of the chillier months, with a blanket wrapped around us to enjoy the fresh air. The interior is equally inviting. Warm and welcoming. There’s a little alcove inside that is perfect for a larger group, and it affords a little privacy. See photo.
The food is very good, but the wine is what really sets this place apart. I love when we happen to be served by the sommelier; that way I don’t have to ask to have the sommelier to come out. We’ve had some wonderful bottles here. The wines by the glass are also excellent. They have a couple of sparkling wines that are inexpensive and really quite good l (I recommend the bailly lapierre brut for a good glasses that is only $13).
Let’s talk food. Their pate plate provides both the creamy pate and a country pate. It its served with the usual accompaniments, pickles etc. Often with a pate you are offered either a country pate or a creamy pate; this one manages to have both. At a great price of $16! Wow! The only thing that would make it a bit better is if they had a few gelatin cubes. I know there’s a bit of gelatin in the creamy pate, but gelatin cubes, especially flavored with honey etc. would just be a nice touch. I’ve had some Prosecco jelly and other jellies and I think that would be a fun addition. It’s also served with both mustard, dijon and a country mustard. It’s just a wonderful pate plate. Having had pates in lots of countries in the world, this really is an excellent job of a classic pate plate. Other items of note are the mussel special, which is all-you-can-eat one night a week. And if they have the tartare, then it is a must have as well. The pomme frite are good, seasoning and service are classic.
I almost forgot, on our last visit, our group of 8 was served by Abby. She was delightful and attentive.

Read moreEnjoyed a lovely 3 course meal solo at the bar- totally not loud and very cozy. Paul-was managing the bar and did a proper job of presentation and serving of dinner. He was a amiable, pleasant and simply wonderful! I stated with a few French martini’s and moved onto the lobster ravioli- decadent and full of lobster- creamy creamy sauce! Next- escargot en croute- sizzling hot and the perfect way to fish out the delicacy- simply put the fork in and the escargot rolls perfectly atop the pastry and then into your mouth perfection! Had to sop up the wonderful herby garlic butter with the complimentary baguette! Main course was the cordon bleu-only $22!!!- and … it had the most amazing crust! Perfectly cooked, juicy and they were able to accommodate my root veggie allergy( most can’t, understandably-when dealing with a chefs special pairing and supply constraints !) so this special touch made my experience all the better! Their wine selections are spot on and Paul’s recommendation was perfect. 4 Drinks and courses before tip $109. Total value and I can’t wait to go back on a Thursday and try the beef tare tare and maybe the mussel deal. I totally hate the downtown location so this is a total gift to us locals with great parking and a not so cramped, yet intimate atmosphere. I’m in love with my new favorite place! Reservations are required and that’s my preferred method of dining (resy) and I love that...
Read moreAs you walk in the host is very plesent and greets you like your an old friend she hasn't seen in ages, despite mot having a reservation she fit us in quickly and effectively communicated with us the resturaunt often is booked. Once seated a plesent man with black and white beard came by and introduced us to alcoholic and non alcoholic menu. I ordered onion soup and the lamb with asparagus couscous and a green sauce which i dont presently recall the name of... While my father ordered a steak with garlic butter melting plesently on top and also included veggies and fries.
I must say as far as my meal was concerned the lamb was perfectly cooked as was everything else on my plate, my only regret was there was not more lamb because it was so good. My father with his slightly smaller stomach shared his fries and i must say. They are addicting. I casually would grab one throughout the meal until desert came. Dessert for us both was a chocolate mousse which was very rich and flavorful. The texture was smooth and almost fluffy. It had a few bluberries off the side for in between bites which paired well.
All together including our non alcoholic drinks for 2 individuals we priced out at 128.00.
Do i say the price is worth the experience and the food? Yes. Everyone was very eager to help and very proffessional, and the meal was absolutely delicious. I will likely return the next...
