This is, hands down, the best bakery I've been to here in NE. I moved two years ago from the Northern VA/DC area, and have tried several bakeries in Omaha, Lincoln, Wahoo, and Fremont, none of which impressed me. I've been to Fariner twice now.
First time, I got the frangipane galette (I think that's what it was called), which looked like a pizza slice but instead of cheese & pepperoni, I believe it was custard, with toppings such as peaches & blueberries, and I think the 2nd item was an orange cream muffin. The tag on the former said it was sweetened with things like dates and honey. Neither item was overly sweet, which I find is a common problem among American desserts (most of my int'l experience is in Japan). The crust on the part with the "toppings" was moist and chewy, and the "crust" on the outside was flaky. The muffin was actually flattened dough rolled into the shape of a muffin, which I've never experienced before, and also had that chewy texture which I believe comes from longer rising times, or perhaps boiling instead of baking; at any rate, the process that is more time-consuming, expensive, and/or difficult that most bakeries shy away from. Both were absolutely delicious.
Second visit, I got the cinnamon roll and chocolate almond croissant. Best cinn roll and croissant I've ever had, both had the same characteristics as described above: Perfect texture, sweetness level, etc.
Near as I can tell, it seems they change the menu regularly, which I also think is pretty neat. So glad to have discovered this place in...

And I don't just mean that as in "everyone else who also knows this will have been in, grabbing up their favorites early-bird style", but also in the manner of nothing can beat cracking into a croissant that is so rich, flaky, buttery, and delicious while ALSO being warm as sunshine and still wafting up tender memories of the oven. Yes, fresh-baked bread and croissants, turnovers and macarons and cakes are delicious and amazing... But fresh-baked, day-of, and fresh-baked, hour-of, are so very different.
Get yourself a little breath of France, a cozy café morning with a sweet or savoury smile to wake you up. Have any of the coffee options or the teas-- or even the wonderful hot chocolate, if you don't feel the need to wake up so soon, or have little ones who would like to join in on sipping a morning brew.
And on top of it, everything is quite reasonably priced- Better than you'll get at the grocery and better than you'll get at any Starbucks, especially for the quality.

Read moreThe night before, while I was at PW’s Bar & Grill, I was told I absolutely had to visit Fariner Bakery the next morning for a cinnamon roll. When I came up to the bakery’s display case and saw those cinnamon rolls, I knew I had to get one. The cinnamon roll was everything I hoped for—soft, rich, and full of flavor. The cappuccino was equally delightful, perfectly crafted, and the ideal complement to the pastry.
With a large communal table at the center, it was the perfect spot to sit down, savor a cappuccino, and enjoy a delicious pastry. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the entire experience even more enjoyable.
I also learned that Fariner Bakery hosts a special Apero Hour on weekends, offering cocktails, snacks, and a delightful evening experience. Overall, my visit to Fariner Bakery was a wonderful experience.
I may not know if I’ll have the chance to return to Ashland, but for anyone staying at the RV campground or passing through, it’s definitely...
