I recently purchased a small home about 20 minutes out of Ashland This last Friday I drove into town for the 1st time I did a search for restaurants and drove by this one As I passed it was impossible to miss the harp player.

I had to go in at that point

The experience really was hard to top

Unassuming little 2nd street Bistro Is a top shelf restaurant The service was heart felt and energetic The harp playing ..by John....was perfection The meal felt like ....a neck massage and a foot massage meets ...fine dining The chops and veggies were exquisite The chowder was electric The choice of local beer. Made for me....upon request.....perfect

The desert....again Unexpectedly Devine

I don't recall a finer dining experience ever Which says a lot if you knew how much a value such or seek it out

Friday night was slow there...a snow storm starting .. closed the restaurant at 7...I held out for the last melody and then made my way out To the chef, John and my server I hope the tip was a reflection of my gratitude And I hope by taking the time to write this now... Others may also find their way to you I PLAN TO BE A...

We stopped here for lunch with our 7 month old daughter and had a great time! The restaurant was pretty quiet, only 4 other diners in the place, and the staff was incredibly attentive. We were offered a highchair without having to ask and no one seemed to mind that our very talkative baby was loud at times. We started with a bowl of the fish chowder and caprese salad. Chowder was to-die-for with fresh chunks of fish and clam. The caprese had sweet, succulent heirloom tomatoes and perfectly paired with fragrant Basil and balsamic reduction. I'm still thinking about how delicious that was! I ordered the fish sandwich and sweet potato fries and my bf ordered the steak sandwich. The fish was nicely seasoned, not overly breaded, and fresh and flakey. Just perfect! I had a bite of the steak sandwich and it too was cooked perfectly with nice chunks of grilled steak on a toasted roll. We will definitely come back next time we're...

Friendly, welcoming atmosphere and quality food, prepared well. Top notch. The locally-sourced tomato salad was bursting with flavor, from the heirloom tomatoes and variety of olives to the fresh mozzarella curds and greens, all gently drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette. My husband, who only eats vegetables because he should, commented on how flavorful this salad was. His steak sandwich was awesome, as well. A very tender cut of steak, with crumbled blue cheese, grilled onions and peppers (not a green pepper to be found in the mix); served with a lightly-horseradished dressing on the side (which my husband slathered on), and tender pickled onion slivers (which he also utilized). Top notch. My crab cakes were also excellent, served with mixed greens and a fabulous chopped fresh tomato-pepper-zucchini blend. ...

We've lived in Ashland for 6 months and can't believe we didn't stop at this place sooner. I read the reviews on the 2nd Street Bistro and we went there for dinner tonight, it absolutely did not disappoint! The food was great, the wine list is solid and they have great beers on tap. They had live harp music which was really nice, the setting is upscale and our server Mandy was great. We will definitely be back.

Pros: easy to find, AMAZING FOOD, decent prices, friendly staff. I had the crabby sandwich (crab cake) with sweet potato fries and my mom and sister had the burger and fries, all was very delicious Cons: kind of dark and outdated, waiter was very nice but a little too touchy...was putting his hand on my mom and sisters shoulders when he was taking our order, etc.

Our first impression of the restaurant was rather sober, and the service was a bit surly. However, the ice was broken after a short while, and by the end, we were best friends with the waitress. For our main course, we both had freshly caught fish, which was extremely delicious. You should definitely try the Bloody Mary if you like that kind of drink.
