As I write this review, frankly, I am trying to keep myself composd as I'm absolutely furious with myself for choosing to dine at this establishment this evening. Came in with my brother from Columbus for dinner and must say unequivocally that it was by far the most disappointing experience I've had going out to eat in a very, very long time. Where do I start? Well, first the server was uninviting, condescending, and most of all truly neglectful of our needs throughout the meal. Started with a snarky remark in response to a question I had about my dinner which was just not necessary. Not even a smile once nor ever any eye contact. I felt like I was imposing on them by coming in to eat. I will say that they were the only server with six tables of customers, but I also could see them out of the corner of my eye readily engaging with other customers at the bar in a vastly different manner where they were observed smiling and even breaking into laughter. No refills offered and no forewarning for the time it would take for our dinner to be prepared. At the very least, they could've checked in with us to see if we needed anything. Our drinks took 10 mins to come out, our side salads ($6 each by the way) another 20, and after waiting at least another 30 mins or so for our main courses to arrive, we finally requested them to go instead and paid the bill with a decent tip considering our subpar dining experience. The meal itself was utterly appalling. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Never asked what temperature I wanted it prepared. It came out incinerated to the point of near cremation!! I had to spit it out as I could barely chew it, and after one forced swallow where I was teetering between gagging and nausea, I spit the rest out in sheer disgust. A tiny order of fries was served along side it and they even used oblong cuts of Roma tomatoes rather than typical circular slices of tomato as a garnish. All for the tidy sum of $15. My brother had an order of their wings which he claimed were flavorful and appetizing until he found a long strand of hair clinging perilously to one of the wings. He became equally nauseated. We were long gone from there at that point to return rightfully demanding a full refund and apology as well. I'm not sure if this is a common experience for other paying customers, but I would've much preferred to write a dazzling review if opportunity permitted. Instead, I stopped at McDonalds and substituted my horrible tasting burger with a Big Mac. Kudos to them. What a difference in comparison and we're talking plain old fast food. If I were the owner of this establishment, I would be quite concerned that I'm putting my name and reputation on the line in the highly competitive food service industry with a glaring example of subpar quality product and service. I do hope for the sake of other patrons that this is not a common incident. Perhaps I should suggest having Gordon Ramsey film an episode of his show, Kitchen Nightmares, at Jackie Rays. Maybe it will do them some real good as in hindsight this experience was truly...
Read moreThis was our first visit and we came for dinner around 5:30 and got our food around 7:30.
We really wanted to love this place. We needed a place in Ashville so we weren’t spending an hour driving somewhere in Circleville or Columbus.
When we walked in there wasn’t a place to stand and wait for a table so it seemed awkward that there wasn’t a host to greet and seat us as soon as we got in. We were addressed by three different people and told they would be with us soon before what seemed like the manager finally addressed us after finishing his conversation with a table. Even after he asked if we’d been helped it took another waitress to finally seat us.
We got our drink order taken right away, our waitress was helpful with our questions about the menu, and she gave us some time to sit and think over what we wanted. It didn’t seem like she was paying attention to our table and we sat for quite some time after deciding on our orders before she returned.
It took 45 minutes for our appetizer to come out and another full hour for our entrees.
Our appetizer was potato skins that were over cooked and just blah. A small amount of cheese and sprinkle of bacon. They came cold.
I ordered fish with broccoli and coleslaw. Fish had a good crisp on the ends but was soggy toward the center and flavorless. Coleslaw was warm and flavorless. Broccoli was cold.
Hubby got chicken parm that seemed to be more sauce than chicken and had hardly any cheese. The sauce tasted mostly of tomato paste.
Kiddo #1 got a cheeseburger which was a good size and he enjoyed it and the fries (his favorite thing)
Kiddo #2 also enjoyed the fries and got the chicken strips that he ate but didn’t love.
While we were sitting waiting the manager was talking to the table behind us and we overheard him tell a racist joke.
We will not...
Read moreIt is with great disappointment and sadness for me to leave a bad review of this place, as it used to be one of our favorite places. We also love supporting local businesses, and have been here probably 30 times, but can not visit anymore.
We know they had an outside accessible patio, so my Fiancee' decided to take me there on my birthday, July 1st. We seated ourselves, and as we settled in, we observed a female server, working another table, with no mask on! We talked about leaving, but decided to switch tables, to a long one, against the wall, to distance ourselves as much as possible. When we went to order, we put our masks back on, and politely asked her to stay back, and she did not comply. We went ahead and ordered anyway.
Now I have met, and talked with owners many times, Vince and his female partner (cant recall her name) but was shocked to see his partner bring out our food, with no mask as well!
It should be noted, this was 2 weeks after DeWine ordered/mandated ALL restaurant/food service worker, to wear a mask.
We went ahead and ate our food, but the mood was lost. Then, to pour salt in the wound, as we were walking out, we saw her again, tending bar to about 8 patrons (none wearing masks) interacting, talking, laughing, with zero distancing. She was literally face to face with many. This was even more disturbing, because we were technically exposed to all those people, and anybody else she has served/interacted with.
And to make matters even worse, I called the next day, asked to speak with Vince about it, and they said he was busy, and didnt want to be disturbed. Um, okay, so I left my name and number...never a call back.
Station 81 is our new...
