Not impressed at all. I am a first time customer at Taco Flores and have never been to this restaurant before.
My co worker and I came for our hour lunch break from work. We got to Taco Flores about 12:15 and waited 5 mins to just place our order when there was no one else waiting in line.
Once we ordered we waited a long time! It wasn't until 12:50 for us to get our one meal (we were sharing a fajitas plate). While we waited multiple people placed their orders and received their food and left before we even got our meal.
When we asked about our meal they asked for our number and receipt. I payed cash ($23) and got no number or receipts so they just said I Dont Know and walked off.
When we finally got our food we had to go back to the office and eat at our desks while working since it took so long. When we unpacked our food we were not happy! The lids were broken, the qaso was a rock, and the meat was cold.
The food though cold was not terrible. The rice was a bit greesy, and the charo beans tasted off. The fajitas were flavorful and I'm sure would have been better fresh and hot. Somethings were great, others I dont want to eat again.
I understand that they are doing things differently do to covid, and that everything is packaged togo. However it did not seem worth our long wait at all. I would like to go try it again when they are back to their normal routines and dining is open again. I hope they do a better...
Read moreUPDATE: They have renovated! So, the authentic build-a-little-here-and-there charm is gone but is has been replaced with a beautiful modernized and much larger dining experience. Everything has been changed (even the parking is better) except the food. *But at the end of the day, that's the only reason to go to a restaurant anyway, right? Who cares if the place is nice but the food is crap? Just go, you wont regret it.
You simply cannot find good Mexican (especially Barbacoa) north of Beltway 8.....Except for this place. From the cans/bottles only drinks to the hodgepodged-together building that looks like it used to be a trailer but they just built around it......Just as it should be. (It reminds me so much of what a good taqueria in the Rio Grande Valley looks like). The parking kind of sucks, there is a covered porch that leaks in places, and there are Novela's playing in the dining room. But there is always a line. It screams, "Trust me vato....just eat here.". The tortillas taste like someones grandma is in the back, slapping them between her floured hands. They taste like love and angry abuela. Soooooo good. The salsa comes in those picnic bottles in your standard red and tomatillo. Unlike most wanna-be places around here, the salsa isn't simply liquid fire or flavorless tomato juice....It full of flavor and one or both will perfectly complement your meal.

Read moreWe came in on a Saturday. Service was a bit slow but the waitress was very nice and checked the status of our orders for us. Unfortunately, the food was not quite good. Granted we're from South Texas so we can't really compare, however it was a bit bland, and some of the meat on the chicken enchiladas and beef fajita tortas tasted weird (as if the meat that was exposed to the air had gone bad). The only thing that made it better was the sauces that they had.
All in all, good service, and middling quality food.
UPDATE 1/9/2019
So we wanted to give this place a go again since they remodeled and everything, and figured that maybe the last time we went was an off day. Service was good as usual and the food was great this time! I had street tacos with charro beans, and my husband got a burrito. serving size was very large too, the burrito was the equivalent of two burritos from other places.
But I don’t know if something happened that day, but at the parking lot, it smelled like a sewer. We thought it was just outside but when we got in the whole restaurant smelled like a backed up bathroom. We ended up taking the food home halfway because it was getting unbearable. We would definitely go back again, but maybe when it doesn’t...
