I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and started off at the little York location as my first visit as a child. When I moved to humble as a teen I frequented the location here in Atascocita. When the mom and son ran this location the food and especially the salsa was so good and the service was great. Now, the service is sub par and the horrible waitresses who didn’t serve you well if you didn’t speak Spanish at the other location are now at this location with the same attitude. I drove from spring where I live, to Atascocita because I was craving their salsa. The guy at the front convinced me to buy the 32 oz and it took him a while to bring it out which I thought was odd since the restaurant had only two customers. (Please review the videos) ….the salsa was 50% water, and had no smell or taste to it. I called to let them know I was dissatisfied and they said I could bring it back. Mind you I live 35-40 minutes away and had my sons track meet that day so I told them I would be back the next day to return it for a fresh one. I returned today and spoke with the manager(son of the owners I’m told) and before saying he would fix it or apologize he wanted to let me know how salsa is made and that it’s boiled down with water. Then says but if I’m dissatisfied he would replace it. He offered nothing for my trouble of driving back and forth or the low quality of the product but he did bring me out more salsa and chips after another longer than normal wait. (Especially for just getting salsa…)and the result is the salsa is still watery and flavorless. Or tasted like watered down tomato. so either they tried to cut my salsa with water twice to be cheap or their salsa has severely been downgraded to tomato water. I paid $10.32 and drove 40 min there and 40 min back twice for this. Ultimately I’m sad because I used to love their salsa and the love and good customer service the mom and son gave when running this restaurant.

The T-bone steak was a flat-ironed steak as you could see in the pictures. Not what I was expecting. The menudo was exactly what it’s supposed to be! The menudo is šŸ”„šŸ”„. The pollo loco chicken was 😷nasty. Really not edible to be honest. The sauce isn’t golden brown. It’s brown. Dark brown. As visualized in the video at the very end. The charros beans was very mediocre or somewhat inedible. The server was okay considering it’s not her fault the chicken and steak was unremarkable. We know the difference between food that is boiled, fried, and baked. Our chicken was neither. It taste like they boiled it ā€œ then tried to microwave itā€ then covered it in un-flavored Lucas. Froze it again. Overnight 2 days. Then 2 days later placed it in the oven. Then put grease on a skillet and drop the oven frozen baked chicken on a hot grease sizzzled pan then you get that chicken. Yea it was nastyšŸ‡ØšŸ‡. What irked my nerves is that they agreed the chicken doesn’t look like the picture. We’re saying it doesn’t taste like chicken. Anyhoo. Get you some menudo to go. Or get you some menudo at the bar. Or eat some in the car. That’s it for me.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at El JalapeƱo Mexican Cafe, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the fajita beef street tacos. They were absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. The portion size was generous enough to leave me feeling fully satisfied, which is always a plus. The accompanying rice and chips were decent, although not the standout items on the menu. However, my fiancƩ ordered the chimichanga and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The beef in both dishes had an amazing flavor that truly elevated the overall taste. If you're a fan of street tacos, I highly recommend visiting El JalapeƱo Mexican Cafe for an unforgettable dining experience. Their flavorful beef and portion sizes will surely leave you craving for more.

The chips were stale, had no salt or flavor. The red salsa was watery and had no type of flavor to it either. Not even a hint of spicyness to it. The Dr.peppers we ordered were flat as well. When our order was taken, it took more then 30 minutes for our food to get to our table and nobody checked on us to make sure if we needed anything or to let us know how long our food was going to take. Mind you, there were only 3 other tables with people that had 5 people or less that were filled through out the restaurant and a party in a section with less then 10 people, yet nobody checked on us. The waitresses were just walking around or just behind the counter talking. When our food finally came out, it was disgusting. My boyfriend and his brother ordered the enchilada plate and the cheese looked like square cheese just melted on and the rice had no flavor at all and was undercooked. The beans tasted rancid as well and was not warm. It also looked really greasy. My flauta plate was the same, no flavor with my rice and was undercooked. My beans tasted rancid and smelled funny as well. My flautas looked like they were rolled in the tortilla and semi-dipped in the oil to fry. When I tasted them, there was no flavor at all, just tortilla and oil. My sons rice and beans were also the same, no flavor, rancid and undercooked. I flagged the waitress down and told her I was not satisfied with my food or my sons and did not want anything else. When it came time for the check, another waitress came and we told her it would be separate checks for the two enchilada plates and she seemed like she did not want to do it and started catching attitude with us and seemed annoyed that we asked for two separate checks and she rolled her eyes at me before she walked away . When she came back with our change in the little black thing (not sure what it’s called), she just slide it to us and kept walking and rolled her eyes again. She didn’t even acknowledge us. This was one of the worst experience I ever had at a restaurant. I will not be coming back here due to staff being very unprofessional and the food being horrible. If I could give it a -5 I would do it in a heart beat. The only thing good was the football game and animation domination on the...

Have frequented this restaurant many years and recommended to others, but my recent visit was disappointing. Ordered a chicken dinner (thin piece of chicken breast with sauce). On the side I also ordered pico and tortilla’s. It was difficult to slice the chicken and hard to chew. I told waitress too tough/hard to chew. She seemed to doubt me and just stared. I explained again then I even told her I’d pay for it, but needed to order something different since I can’t chew it. (I had only taken 2 bites). I told her what I wanted instead of the chicken. She said okay let me go check. (Check what? I thought. I’m willing to pay for both to avoid any doubt that I’m trying to get something for free.). They brought the other dish and only charged me for the one dish. But the response made me feel horrible. My Chip basket was empty as well as the salsa but no offer to refill. I assumed it was to make up for the money they lost. I don’t know, but I won’t return again anytime soon. I’ve never returned any of their dishes, so I didn’t realize they’d respond this way. Maybe I’m over reacting, but again they made me feel like I was a liar. Please don’t treat other regular patrons (or anyone) like this. ...
