Finally tried San Angel for an early dinner. We were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, very modern with a bit of a club vibe. It was too hot to be out at there rooftop area, maybe when the weather cools down some. They have a very nice bar, good selection of drinks. I had the frozen mango drink, it had vodka, chamoy, tajin rim, and a mango daiquiri type of base. For $12 it was well worth it as the portion was very large, filled to the rim and delicious. My partner had the 32oz beer, can't say much, it's beer, he enjoyed it haha. The complimentary chips and salsa were great, the salsa was tasty, had onions and cilantro in it. Chips were large pieces and fresh. We added a cheese dip and and had pickled jalepeno added. The cheese dip is really good, it's on the thicker side, so it doesn't go dripping off your chip. My partner went with the steak fajita nachos, the steak was amazing, flavorful and very very tender. I opted for the fajita taco salad with shrimp as my protein. It was good, just not super flavorful. It could have used beans and rice for sure. We will be back though.

Wanted to try this place out. I had driven by it a few times and wanted to stop in and see what it was about. We did so last night. Stopped in with my GF and her daughter. The layout inside is a wide open space, so the noise level was the first thing I noticed. It's rather loud with a crowd inside. The seating was quick. The service from our server was prompt and professional. Typically, I wouldn't complain about too strong a drink but ordered the Texas margaritas and WOW! They packed a punch, and it took me all meal to finish it. Ordered the Octopus and Mexican street corn. The Octopus was cooked very well, but it just didn't have any seasoning on it and was bland. The Mexican corn was OK, a little skunky, but that's to be expected. Girlfriends burrito was a large proportion but not very tasty. Her daughters food was the same way. Shrimp quesadillas were good enough but lacking seasoning and cheese. So I was excited to try this restaurant, but it was lacking as far as food I would enjoy. One positive is the service we received! It was fantastic, and the highlight of our visit..

I've been twice since they opened. Last summer and recently. Service both times have not been what I expected. I'm still giving 5 stars overall because hopefully I can have a better experience if I decide to visit in the future and because the food and atmosphere are truly amazing! My dad loved their salsa for the chips. He said no other place prepares it as good as them. I've had the Alambres plate, tacos, and San Angel Appetizer with queso panela and Chile poblano. Delicious! Lots of good comments here about service and attention to customers, so likely it has just been my experience with the servers on both occasions. No refills. We had to ask for them towards the end. Had to ask for napkins and straws for the drinks. We were asked how everything was during our meal, so that was appreciated.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place really deserves some love. From the second we walked into San Angel, the vibe was warm and welcoming. You can feel right away that it’s a family-run place that actually cares about the people walking through the door.

Let’s start with the food — everything was beautifully presented. You could tell they put thought into every plate. My tacos looked like they belonged in a food magazine, with bright, fresh ingredients and a clean, colorful setup. The flavors were just as amazing. You can taste the freshness in every bite, and it’s clear they don’t cut corners.

What really stood out to me, though, was the service and the way the place is run. The manager Jairo was out on the floor, greeting people, checking in, and making sure everything was going smoothly. It didn’t feel forced — it felt like he genuinely cared that people were having a good time. That energy trickles down to the servers too. Everyone was friendly, quick, and super helpful without being overbearing.

Little things made a big difference — like how fast we were seated, how often they checked on us without hovering, and even how clean everything was. It just feels like a well-run spot that’s proud of what they do.

If you’re in Athens and craving Mexican food that’s both delicious and made with care, San Angel is it. Can’t...

I want to give this restaurant five stars just by the way we witnessed customer service was handled . My girlfriend and I came to dine in last night around 8pm and a lady who seemed to be the manager greeted us and let us know in advance they were currently understaffed but she would still take our drink and food order , as I looked around the restaurant I noticed only 3 staff members (females only) were assisting all clients and were running around servicing all tables as best as they could but what called my attention was the way the manager was assisting her staff at all times and even took the time to stand up for a server who was having a hard time handling a table of about 8ppl who kept complaining of cold food even tho we watched the manager re heat the food several times . Our experience overall was great despite the short staff our food came out quick our drinks were fantastic even tho they did take a while tho we noticed it was only 1 female bartender behind the bar making all drinks so it’s understandable! The manager kept apologizing for the inconvenience of them being short staffed but it’s completely understandable things happen and we will definitely be coming back ! We were treated with respect at all times and all the staff treated us with respect ! The food and drinks were...

I recently just left this restaurant after visiting more than once, and I never had to deal with any issues until today (JUNE 21, 2025). I ordered the fajita quesadilla’s which came out as soon as we ordered… which the food wasn’t even steaming, barely warm, came out soggy, and didn’t look appetizing. Therefore instead of making a complaint I request for something else. A whole different server brought the food, and took my food back, and right after the manager (GREY SHIRT, & BLACK HAIR) rushed up with attitude asking me why I didn’t want my order.. I simply told him why in the most respectful manner, even with him being rude. After a while I finish my replacement food, and waited for the check which took forever to come. So I walked towards the front to get it instead. After receiving and paying I realized I was still charged for the meal I didn’t eat, and had to get refunded for the issues.. though he claimed he issued me a refund I still had to pay more because he voided the item (after I paid.) so I had to pay once again… after signing my ticket he got very rude, got loud because I didn’t tip the waitress?? The experience was terrible this time and not to mention he was the rude one this whole time, while I was calm and relaxed… I will not be returning...
