Second time I’ve been here and they took 10 minutes to ask for our orders even though there was no one in front of us. The employee was screaming about how she was going to leave whether some other employee got there or not. Extremely unprofessional. The girl who took my order put it in a to go container and when I said it was for here she just shrugged it off which would have been fine, but I got a significantly smaller portion than I did the last time I ordered the exact same thing. I got to the end of the line and she said “anything else?” and I said I wanted to get the smores quesadilla and she literally told me to go to back to end to tell someone else to make it. Then when I walked back, the other employee said “I already heard you”. Very unprofessional and rude. Then when we got to the end to pay, she kept repeating to hit the red X because she messed up our order on the computer even though I was literally hitting the red X. Then they didn’t even make my smores quesadilla!!!! Very annoyed we spent $40 on two TINY meals and to not even receive the dessert. When I requested a refund no one knew how to do it and I ended up sitting at the counter for another 10 minutes while they waited for their manager who wasn’t even at the store. They also don’t have napkins. You have to rip off pieces of that brown papery rolls they have in public school buildings. Never coming back again. Should have gone to...
Read moreWe placed a mobile order at 7:53 for an 8:08pm pickup time. Finally got our food at 8:26pm, but it's not really the wait time that bothered me. The restaurant was not busy at all - there was one person in the main line. The attitude of the lady working the cashier was horrendous. She actively avoided contact with me and I finally had to interrupt her to get her attention. I told her the name on my mobile order and she said they were working on it but didn't check. This was around 8:15. I waited a few more minutes and then got in the empty main line hoping I could have them make my food while I was standing there. He pulled my ticket to the front but did not start making my food. I waited another 10 minutes for my food. In that time, the cashier lady disappeared to the back. She finally came back with a mop in hand, mopped a little, then grabbed chips with her bare hands and threw them in the fryer. She then got on her phone for a bit and then grabbed more chips and threw more chips into the fryer. That is gross. The overall tone in the restaurant was that the employees were annoyed we were there and the cashier lady was trying to do as little work as possible.
In summary, the quality of the restaurant has drastically and consistently declined since they opened. The employees are not happy to help you, or to help you at all. There were health code violations. We will not...
Read moreI’ve been to a couple Surcheros locations and was just passing through, but this location really takes the cake. I didn’t even know Athens had a surcheros until I drove by. The scenery at this location puts other surcheros I’ve visited to shame, there’s a mural along the wall of the restaurant, and even neon lights decorating their logo (which still look good even though it looks like some of the bulbs have burned out). The part of my visit that really stuck out to me was the customer service, with an emphasis on the service part! I came by almost as soon as they opened for the day, but you couldn’t tell the way CA was almost dancing around. He seemed excited to be at work, and his service felt genuine and not forced at all. I was skeptical of adding the cilantro ranch on my bowl, but he convinced me to try it on the side, and maintained conversation with me even as he had to briefly turn around to stop a timer and I especially appreciated that he changed his gloves before scooping my queso after handling my money without me even having to ask. The cilantro ranch wasn’t my favorite (Sorry CA), but the queso was delicious as always. Now I don’t pass through Athens often, but next time I do surcheros will be a...
