I’ve never encountered a declining slope of a business than I have today.
About a year ago, I was amazed by the robotic coffee machine, and the sandwich shop merger with Shenanigans down the road (one of my favorite delis) and endless gaming pc’s, with a 2 story projector streaming anything you could watch, from sports to gaming tournaments, where could this place go wrong?
Evidently, it did last December when I took my fiancé to watch a local high school football game that freelancers was streaming. Prior to entering the building, I had asked that morning, if they were selling food, and they said no, just beer and wine. So we arrive with food from another business. Within five minutes of sitting down, a manager hounds us about bringing outside food when it wasn’t communicated with us that shenigans would be operating business that night, and boasts about the million dollars he invested into the place, and leaves. After finishing my meal, I felt like contributing to small business so I bought a sandwich, and a coke. The same guy comes back, and has the audacity to say, “DoN’t TeLl Me YoU bOuGhT fOoD bEcAuSe Of Me! NoW I fEeL bAd!”. I politely told him, to please leave my fiancé and I alone so we could enjoy our evening. Moments after, his supervisor arrives at our booth, graciously apologizes for his partner’s interactions with us, offered to buy me a beverage on the house, and hopes that I returned.
I did. Only today, on their business hours where they should’ve been open a quarter past 10am, the lights were out, doors were locked, and there was a lone gamer in the cafe…no post on their Facebook page over today’s closure, nothing.
In short, they need a desperate change in management for future customers. I appreciate the apology, but I was hoping for a better return to the café than a lack of efficiency and an overflow of pride from one of the business partners. Unfortunately because of the last two encounters with this business, I will not be one of them. Best of luck, freelancers café. You’re...
Read moreI visited Freelancer's Cafe on Thursday night to enjoy the game and support the Malakoff Tigers. While the atmosphere was good and the game was exciting, my experience took a negative turn due to an incident involving one of the staff members. I witnessed the staff member belittling and yelling at a couple who had brought in some outside food. It was uncomfortable to watch, and the way they were treated was completely unprofessional. I understand that there may be rules about outside food, but the staff member’s approach was aggressive and humiliating. This unfortunate experience has left a sour taste, and I will not be returning to this location in the future. Customer service and respect should always come first, and sadly, that was not the case here.
UPDATE 12/18/24 after leaving my non so pleasant experience on their Facebook page, and finding out it was the owner who was all disgruntled with the customers, they have blocked me on Facebook 🙃 I applaud the outstanding customer service they bring to their...
Read moreSign outside reads deli but I was suprised to find what was inside. As soon as we walk in a gentlemen tells us "we close in one hour for a private event", given it's 1.5 hours left until event begins. I reply "I am just going to order a sandwich, we will be out of here before that." We go order our sandwich at the deli. No one to be found on how the gaming works. So we walked around spotted the same guy he's busy watching gaming going on. I ask " can you walk us through how we rent this to play a game while we wait on our sandwich?" He said " it's $5 for an hour and turns around ." Sandwich is really good , place is really nice , robo coffee is cool and awesome to watch and surprisingly...
