IHOP — Restaurant in Athens

Yikes..... When I walked in the door, I knew immediately we should have walked out the door, like the party of four that was in front of us did, but I gave it a chance and they failed hard. The host was slow and had me questioning if he was awake yet, granted it was 11am and the place had 25 people in it, yes I counted, there was no music on and dirty, empty dishes in front of customers. My wife, son and I had Owen, an obviously new server that came to our table 2 times during the 45 minute fail show. Once when he took our order, and once to drop off our order. The food was decent, considering it’s limited menu, 5 and dine style dining, so back of house had it together but there were 4 servers minimum on for the 25 people in the establishment so none of them were busy. After 30 minutes of trying to grab our server for refills, additional syrup and napkins, which we never received we decided to just leave. I Went up at the front to pay so someone would track down Owen to bring me a bill. I paid and even tipped $5 on $33= 15%, but that is the lowest I will tip. As I left I went to use the hand sanitizer station and it was empty. The whole experience was unacceptable. The thing is here I don’t blame the young guy Owen as much I believe the management of this place are pathetic and lazy. Not one table touch, no sign of a manager anywhere, no manager running food, no manager helping the poor new guy Owen struggle through his morning, no manager helping the host, so essentially no management. You are an interstate location half way between Birmingham and Nashville in the largest growing city in Alabama/top 5 in the US and IHOP as a franchise needs to reevaluate this location. Get...

I had a great review now I'm changing it.I stopped here at IHOP this morning before I went in I went through my purse realizing I had left my money wallet at home. All I had was my Venmo card with nothing but 5$ on it.I live very far away so I decided no big deal I asked 2 families in all could they pay the difference for me and my son one of them said sure no big deal.So we went in I paid my 5$ the family paid the difference.I told them God Bless you sent on my way.I sat back in the car because my pharmacy had called me(I had a small surgery on my leg two days ago)they said I had left my money wallet there.Then here comes the management out the door. "Stop asking people for money u need money go over there stand on corner" . I was like excuse me "this was the first time I asked for help'".Then she said '" No! U were here a couple months ago my cashier paid for your hasbrowns""(I don't eat there their nasty hash browns ever.) She was so rude to be a manager.She seem Mexican with long wet curly hair.The last thing she said was I needed to park not in front it's for people who can't walk good lol I said "maM I just had leg surgery". She looked at me like I was lying and I couldn't show her. I was even in a regular parking spot."You got 2 minutes to leave she said",Then ran back into. Ihop. I used to love that place I would go there every morning at one time. How u gonna tell your customer to go stand on a corner and prostitute herself for money.Not very professional IHOP .Oh i did have...

The daytime staff and food is much better...

We took our kids out to see the Grinch and eat "The Grinch " pancakes...

We went at night.... and had to wait a while to be seated, there was only one other family in the entire restaurant. The server finally came out and was shocked that they had customers.

We waited 35 minutes for food... the waitress was nice, but gave zero refills. My family enjoyed their pancakes.... but, my steak dinner was icy and missing items. I told the waitress, she took her time.... eventually she took my plate to the back... returned it microwaved on a new plate with brown mashed potatoes and liquidy mush shrimps.... I spoke with the manager, who yelled at the cook, publicly..... then they all laughed when she went in the back.

She brought me a "fresh" plate... still missing food... the potatoes were hot on top and ice cold in the center. As if they stuck a piece of ice under the potatoes. They brought out my broccoli (3 pieces) that were red and had strips of plastic in between. We asked for the check and left. The night manager was annoyed that I didn't eat the ice potatoes and plastic filled red broccoli....

I was highly disappointed and will definitely not be...
