Where do I start? Well, tonight when we got to Waffle house in Athens, AL we ordered our drinks, they came out quick. So far so good. Then we ordered the food. I ordered two cheeseburgers, hashbrowns with chili and cheese and a side of bacon. My fiance ordered a blueberry waffle with a side of soft scrambled eggs with cheese. I got my cheeseburgers with no cheese and no chili on the hashbrowns, my bacon was burnt to a crisp (it was black). My fiance got her blueberryless waffle and before she got this they brought her grits and toast. Not even close to the actual order. When she pointed out that the waffle had no blueberries in it the cook became visibly angry. He started cussing and took the butter spray for the waffle iron and slammed it on the counter right next to us. The story continues as the waitress leans over our table and rubs her inner arm along the mouthpiece of the straw on our drinks. But wait, theres more. We finally got our food and were eating away as we listened to the sounds of the employees around us complaining about their job and asking each other "is it 9 yet?" In a way that made them sound more confused than Rip Van Winkle. As we were finishing our food I'm pointed out a cockroach that is on the table with us as I'm forced to kill it while eating a burger. I could not finish my food any more. We took our check to the counter to pay and found out that they overcharged us for my hamburgers. ($6 for a $3 item.) We were in such a rush to get out of their we didnt put up much of a fight against it as we hope they are using our extra $3 to make their miserable lives...
Read moreIt was awful. Food was wrong but they somewhat fixed it. Eggs were over easy instead of over medium for my husband like he ordered. One of mine was over hard and the other was over medium to an extent which i ordered over medium. Gravy biscuit was runny because they had to add water to it instead of just saying they didn't have any or prepare new. Employees were constantly going outside to visit family while customers waited. And one of the ladies I reckon worked there but she was sitting outside in her truck with her baby which was naked but for a diaper. She had on yoga pants and a t-shirt with sandals and looked dirty but she came in and changed out the cash drawer then went back outside to sit in her truck. The cook must have been with her because he kept going to the truck instead of working. And the boy that was cleaning tables had to be a waiter and before we left he was outside at the truck where the former cook was at and the lady that changed the cash register was. There was also a bearded fella that was carrying the baby around which I reckon was the uncle. And an old lady there at the counter who was must have been grandma. I know the waffle house is a family eastablishment but when people are waiting for food and service it's time to work not have a family reunion. If it's all family that works there you really need to fire that family and get new. The only thing I can say is our waitress was ok and the coffee was good. Waffle house you have to do better because this waffle house is new and should run alot better since it's right on...
Read moreThis used to be our usual spot when we would be traveling. It used to be very busy, even with a wait it was fine. But every time we stop in, it's gotten a little bit worse. Last night was the last straw. There were only 2 people working. It was absolutely frigid in the restaurant. Upon asking about it, were told the managers lock the door to the office which is where the thermostat is located, so they were unable to make it warmer. Then, while ordering, the waiter started complaining about his jours completely unprompted. I get he's frustrated, but to blurt it out in the middle of writing down my kids orders is weird and unprofessional. He was so distracted by his own complaints he started to walk away before even getting to my order. Finally, the food arrives but he's disappeared and the poor cook is having to do everything. This might explain why some of the food was cold, but it tasted ok so I moved on. We paid and left only for the worst to begin a few hours later. The two in our party who ordered cheesesteak melts became very sick. I don't ever want to stop here again. To pay $53 before tip for terrible service and food borne illness? I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone...
