Red Roof Inn & Suites Athens, AL — Hotel in Athens

Do not stay here!! We reserved a room as a rewards member. When we arrived at 8pm note was on the window to call a number so we did. Went to voicemail several times. We then called reservations and they attempted to reach someone at the hotel, no luck. After 30 minutes we left. The guy on reservations said we should try to call back later to cancel as we were unable to access the room. Took us over an hour but finally found another room. We called around 9:30/9:45 pm back to red roof inn and someone answered. She said she saw us but was busy and will not cancel our room due to the cancellation policy. She was rude and absolute in charging me. After the conversation we received an email with a double charge for cancellation. The next morning I tried calling rewards center, they attempted to call the red roof inn and no answer. They cannot correct and a claim was created needing to wait 48 hours. Goodness what chaos. Don’t even attempt to stay here. I’ll update if red roof inn corrects. I understand being short staffed but being unreasonable when we can’t access the room is absurd. On a side note when we were searching for another room available we were told this inn struggles with bed bugs. Another reason to NOT stay here

In the middle of a work day get a call from the hotel saying they were putting our stuff out of the room bc they said it was our check out day NO it wasn't we paid cash big mistake we believe the clerk pocketed the money we know we were paid til Tuesday. Anyways the manager is a total jerk has no regard for people or their feelings!! They went into our room and just shoved everything into a garbage bag and when I got there he told me I have to get our stuff and wait by the curb for my ride thankfully I had my car he was telling me I wasn't moving fast enough to load our stuff the bag was so heavy I could barely lift it and all of our clothes just shoved in a garbage bag like trash He told me I'm not allowed back on the property nor is anyone I know!! That is NOT how you treat anyone!! He was telling me I had been smoking in the room that was a lie we did NOT!!! It was there mistake and I get treated like a common criminal. Even if it was just an honest mistake YOU DON'T TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THAT!! BE AWARE DO NOT GO HERE!!! I've never in my life have been treated like that! He should not be a manager of that hotel!! He isn't a people person!! In my opinion they owe us a free nights stay of course at another red roof inn or our money back for the night we booked and paid for but...

I stayed here on Sunday June 19,2022. I drove from Tennessee for a job interview. Needless to say the roon attendant was unsure whether to book the room bc it seem something was wrong with that room. She literally had to walk out to check the room out. Anyways i checked in went inside the room and it was full of fleas and flies. I had to go buy some raid. It was a fairly clean roon but some of the bedding had blood stains on them. So i striped my bed and had to buy me a sheet at the dollar store.. i stepped out on the town for a little. Came back went to bed. Something bit at my face. So i scratched it but didnt know what it was. Didn't see anything. Returned home on Tuesday. Woke up on Wednesday had blisters and swolled face cheeks with hard surfaces. So with that being said i had bed bugs that bit me in the face. I wondered why she was leary of that room to start with.
