Every once in a while I'll eat at a restaurant where the food is so good that I hate for the experience to be over. This is one of those restaurants.
I travel for work, and I've found most of the Tex Mex restaurants in these small towns are mediocre at best. I will often drive far out of my way to visit a place where I know the food is good. That said, I wasn't expecting much when I stopped here, but I was famished.
The food and service were both outstanding. Knowing that most places can't get fajitas right, I usually won't try them at a new place. Instead, I ordered the Queso Fundido with beef fajita meat, the jalapeño locos, and a guacamole salad. That way I was covered if the fajita meat was bad. The Queso Fundido was hands down the best I've ever had,. The jalapeño locos can't be compared to anything I've had before, but it was excellent, and the guacamole was good.
This will definitely be one of those places I will drive out of the way to eat at when I'm traveling between Houston and Oklahoma....
Read moreI’ve taken my family here once or twice a month for years. The food is great but after today we won’t be back. I understand in this economy that prices are going up but we went in today and were shocked at the prices. Not only have the prices gone up and the portions gone down, but apparently they just make up new prices when you get to the register. My meal was charged at $4 more than the menu price and my wife’s was $1 more. On top of that, they added an extra 4% to every item on the bill and claimed it was a credit card fee. When my wife asked about it, they pointed to a sign that said they offer a discount if you pay cash. But it didn’t say anything about an EXTRA fee if you use a card. And then they tax you on the extra credit card fee! We ended up paying about $10-15 more than we should have for our lunch, and it wasn’t even that good. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Athens, but we will not...
Read moreMy wife and I are visiting the area and decided to try tacos from a couple of local Mexican restaurants. When I picked up my order I asked if they put taco sauce or salsa in the bag. They said it did not come with it and if I wanted any I would have to buy chips and salsa. I declined thinking the tacos might be really good and not need any. To our surprise the taco shells were the preformed kind like you get at Taco Bell but without any flavor. We were expecting home made shells like other restaurants. Oh well. The tacos were soggy and the meat had an odd flavor. My wife took one bite of her taco and that was it.!! To top it off this place was the most expensive and the service was poor. Very disappointed. I suggest Jalisco’s down...
