I didn't want to write a review at all, but my experience kept gnawing at me, so here goes a long one.
I personally enjoyed my dinner, but my friend thought it was okay but not worth the price, and she thought the service was lacking, and I didn't notice too much, but looking back at it, the server could have done better, to put it politely, and for change to take effect, I can be impolite about it, too, because of how impolite they were to me and my friend, especially.
The server "hovered" (checked in on us) a lot and it felt like we were being rushed out before we even ordered and as we were eating and even as I was deciding how to pay. We would be in the middle of a conversation or in the middle of eating, and she would rudely check in on us. We're eating and talking. That means we're good. I know I wasn't a good server when I used to serve at s restaurant briefly, but I know that much as a customer.
When we were wrapping up, despite the server's insistent checking, she was nowhere to be found. My friend asked for a to-go box as the server walled by on the other side of the wall but the server didn't hear her, so I went to the front counter to ask for a to-go box and the check. I notice she was on her phone, on what looked to be a social media app, which is fine, I suppose, we all need a break, but I don't like seeing it so visibly. She wasn't smoking, but phones should be treated the same way. They should be out of sight from the customer as much as possible and certainly only be used for work-related reasons.
The server came back with just the check and I reminded her, I thought politely, about the to-go box to which the server replied an exasperatesd, "I'm getting it!" or something along the lines. I wouldn't have mind a simple, "Thank you for reminding me," because we all forget tasks, but the server seemed frustrated at the request.
Another thing was the music was weird. I don't know if there was something wrong with their sound system, but it was playing 2000s pop music, which I don't exactly dislike, but it doesn't fit the aesthetic of an Italian restaurant. It also felt like it was playing through a tiny speaker, which you make do with what you have, but I would have preferred silence.
Look, everyone has a bad day. I don't want the server to lose their job in this or any economy, but I want to see that the server learn and do better or start looking for a better job if this one isn't the right fit before being let them go.
My friend doesn't want to go back and I will honor her request because it was pretty disappointing service. I'm not good at picking up on insults, but making my friend feel unwelcome hurts. Please reach out if you want to make amends, and I may consider. I go here with some family members in the past, but I may not want to go with...
Read moreMe and my wife decided to try this place out for the first time. And sad to say our first experience WAS HORRIBLE thanks to the waitress that waited on us. For some reason (as we yet to have found out) after we were seated and received our drinks and given time to decide on what to order Our waitress finally comes back to take our order. So after my wife ordered I then proceed to order but ask a simple question about the salmon. she stated that she didn't know the answer to my question (with a slight attitude) so she went to ask the cook to see if he or the owner knew. So after question answered I order the dish in questioned we received our food which mine wasn't all that good because it was bland and they had only put maybe a hand full of pasta on the plate. So of course I ask for a little more pasta which the owner requested his cook to bring to me.
And let me back up a bit. We had ordered an appetizer which was garlic bread with cheese and the waitress asked did we want dipping sauce and what kind which we said yes assuming it came with the bread. Which she never stated that it would be an extra charge. Again it was our first time at this restaurant.
So once we finish our meal and get the check I noticed the charge and got her attention to ask about it.once I asked her she IMMEDIATELY gotten an attitude and asked me what did I want her to do which I requested that it be removed. So she walks off with attitude and have the owner come over to address the issue which I felt he didn't really care much about seeing it from our perspective. But as we were discussing the matter about the extra charge he first makes a smart comment saying that he understands that we couldn't afford to pay it and the proceed to state that the extra pasta was supposed to be an extra charge as well(as if the charge for the dipping sauce was supposed to make up for that). So I politely told him that his waiter/waitress supposed to ALWAYS let the customer know that if they suggest anything other than what they(the customer)ordered and is aware of what they are already being charged for. That it will be an extra charge if they want that suggestion that is being made. Which the owner agreed and stated that she should have done that, but she didn't!
We will not be going back because we prefer not to spend our money with an establishment that doesn't care that they have employees that will pick and choose who they will treat with respect and who...
Read moreOn a girl's trip and decided we wanted Italian. Being from the Houston area and not familiar with our surroundings, we decided to search for Italian food in the area and starting looking at reviews. Found Roma and was beyond impressed by the reviews, so naturally we decided to give it a try. Now, I'm thinking the grand reviews must have been written by employees and their friends and family, because my experience was far from spectacular. We arrived a little after 5:30 Saturday evening. First thought was hhhmm... not many cars in the parking lot but, it's a lil early for dinner and the reviews were so good. Let's go ahead and try it. First, asked if a substitution was possible, to which I was told no. 🤔 I mean I was even willing to pay extra. Get our food, which by the way, said was served with fresh "homemade" bread. Mind you we were given a basket of some yeast rolls that weren't even brushed with butter and a side of the olive oil garlic mixture that cost $3.25. Received our food which was nice and hot and appeared to be somewhat freshly cooked but tasted like it might have been frozen. And, let me add, the ricotta cheese that was in the item I had wanted to substitute was spoiled. I did, however really like the sweet tea. So much so that I asked for a to go cup to bring back with me, to which I was told "we don't do to go drinks". So, if you see good reviews but no cars in the parking lot, do yourself a favor and go...
