For what it’s worth, my girlfriend had a very unpleasant experience here. She would occasionally stop there to grab me food on her way home, and over time she consistently shared with me that she was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the behavior of the owner.
I will leave it up to you to your own interpretation, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for a business owner, one who has looked me in my face and acted like a host, one who has taken my money, to then turn around and say things such as “I’ve been thinking about you“ to my girlfriend when she orders takeout. Call it polite pleasantries, or call it inappropriate behavior, which is what I call it.
It’s the typical situation, someone who has made a little bit of money in another profession thinks they can enter the restaurant business, even though they’ve chosen a spot with limited parking and decor that’s straight out of a restaurant supply catalog. I had given the owner the benefit of the doubt because he was gentlemanly in my presence, but his behavior out of my presence is typical Atlanta male behavior, and it’s unseemly for a...
Read moreCame after an event around the corner. Got there early and sat at the bar. Bartender was nice and attentive. As more people came in, she did get a bit busy as she was the only bartender and the entire event ended up at this location. Drinks weren’t bad but nothing special. Typical bar drinks. Creative names but no real flair to the drinks. Just concoctions with one too many ingredients to me. Order some jollof rice. Rice was bland and soulless. No flavor at all. Rice tasted like it had been sitting all day and was just warmed up. DJ was cool. Played a good mix of hits. Got the bill and auto-gratuity like the rest of Atlanta at either 18-20%. Didn’t tip extra. It got busy and we had to ask for a second drink a few times. Of course the check came quick when we were ready to clear space at the bar. Overall, I’d come back for a quick drink if entry is free and same with parking. Not worth paying to get in or paying for parking to me. I’d skip the food though. Nice place. Hopefully they make a few changes and find a good rhythm. Thanks for having me at your...
Read moreIt was advertised that this was karaoke spot. Arrived at 11:40 pm on Saturday 7/30/22 to join friends who had already spent over $200 on food/drinks prior to me arriving... after dinner elsewhere.
Unfortunately to my surprise I was told by both a waitresses and manager...in order to have a seat in the establishment... it was required that I purchased a bottle! Their bottles start at $315. I would have needed at least 2 tables with seating to accommodate the people who were already there and in route to celebrate my birthday...which would have been over $630!!!! Not to mention they didn't even have my tequila of choice!
The prices are ridiculous after 12 am! I was also told that the food/drinks purchased by my friends before 12am was irrelevant!
Please note: If the prices I was quoted for the Blu Lagoon Bar isn't usual and customary/ like across the board, for this establishment... then it is my opinion that my guest and I were being discriminated against and perhaps this establishment isn't LGBT friendly!
Not...
