I recently discovered this gem of a Tex-Mex restaurant that opened its doors less three months ago, and I've already been back four times! Each visit seems to outdo the last, which is a testament of the ownership's desire to deliver a memorable experience for their patrons.
One thing that sets this place apart is their salsa options. I love that they offer three choices - avocado, mild red, and my personal favorite, the green tamatino. The tamatino has just the right amount of spice for my taste.
For starters, I always go for the queso with jalapeños and guacamole - they never disappoint. When it comes to entrees, you can't go wrong with their beef tacos and steak fajitas. Pair those with some charro beans and corn chowder on the side, and you've got a meal that will leave you satisfied every time.
The margaritas are also worth mentioning because they are made with fresh mix daily, and you can really taste the difference. Whether you prefer dining on the patio, sitting indoors at the bar or in the dining room, you'll be pleased to know that they always have the TVs tuned into sports, adding to the lively atmosphere.
Service here is consistently excellent, and I always feel welcomed and well taken care of. This restaurant has quickly become a favorite in the neighborhood for delicious Tex-Mex fare. If you're in the area, be sure to check it out - you won't be...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. It's a neighborhood restaurant and we are missing good Mexican food. This is not good...or even Mexican food. It's an insult to Tex-Mex as well.
I spoke to one of the owners (Zach) to give feedback after paying. Let me first say the positives - the drinks are very good and, while busy, we got seated fairly quickly. The server (Matt) was also good. As I told Zach, the food is bland. I was being kind as it really is tasteless. The salsa is fresh but otherwise really no taste. My response from Zach when I said they need more flavor in the food was that this is the "lane they are trying to be in." He was very proud they had 3,000 people in the last week. I suspect people are like me - they want a local place to succeed but they won't be back. When I mentioned that the food doesn't have the quality or flavor of Superica he said they are trying to be family friendly, inexpensive (he actually said cheap) and fast. That probably also explains the lack of decor as the wall are almost barren. I wanted to like it but I'll pay an extra $10-$20 and go to Superica any day. Oh, to top it off, I asked for some extra jalapenos to add some flavor, I was charged $2. It seem a bit unreasonable to charge to add flavor. I'm glad I didn't need salt as that might have been a...
Read moreI'm not sure if he was a manager, but a rude male interjected himself (in an authoritarian manner) into our conversation with the hostess to say...that if we wanted to be seated on the patio for drinks only, there would definitely be a wait. Noted. Save the patio for bills that will pull in a bigger profit than drinks. I can appreciate that. Although 99% of the time my friend and I have "just drinks," it almost always turns into several drinks, a couple of apps to snack on, often another entire meal, and a dessert.
I asked my friend if she preferred sitting at a table inside or at the bar. Please note: There was only ONE table occupied inside the ENTIRE restaurant, and the bar was completely EMPTY. The rude male interjected again, telling us to give him a few minutes, and then he would tell us where we could sit. Maybe he needed time to figure out which empty table to seat us at since there were SO many (literally all but one) to choose from. That's fair.
Most places will welcome you to find a seat at the bar, especially if it is completely EMPTY. Not this one! His blatant rudeness and bothered attitude made us feel bad, so we left. We went somewhere else where they welcomed us and our business. (And as usual, we ran up an almost $180 tab for our...
