Impressed. One page focused menu. Good drinks, good seating inside and out, nice calm vibe, great service from Abigail, nice chairs/seating and silverware, clean restrooms and establishment.
The water is delicious
Steak-at $53 itâs the most expensive item and itâs worth it. Plenty food, amazing flavors.
Baked Chicken-Arguably best item. We donât eat chicken much but the people next to us had it and swore by it because they came the previous day and ordered it and they were back again ordering the same thing so we had to try it. Iâm glad we did. Probably one of the best tasting birds ever. And Iâve eaten my share of chicken. 10/10 it taste like it was grilled and baked-amazing
Trout-Delicious. A bit light tho so youâll have to order something else if youâre hungry.
Okra-Delicious. It also tastes smoky and hearty like meat. Comes with amazing pita bread. Okra was too salty the second time trying.
Chicken Sandwich-Delicious, crunchy, fresh. It couldâve had more spices, more pickles, and a good sauce that matches the sandwich. It only had a thin layer of mayo on it. The bun was buttery and I knew my blood pressure was going up.
Wedge Salad-Cold and tasty. Felt like it was worth more like $9 tho.
Beef Talo Fries-Very Tasty-Loved
Beets-nice and tangy. At $13 it could be $9 easily
Farro VEGAN dish- delicious. Ate every last bit 10/10 and great price. Ordered 3 times since.
Lamb Dish-Delicious 10/10-fair $22. Looked small at first but it was more than I thought. They could charge $25 and give you more.
Dessert Cookie was like a brownie cookie bake in a skillet-nothing special.
The Butter Cake in that amazing baileys sauce-Very delicious. Should come with ice cream. It was smaller the second time ordering and should be larger. Youâll definitely want more. We licked the plate 10/10 if they go back to a larger size.
Didnât understand the painting on the wall. Many of their menu items had cheese and the cheese if taken off would change the dish. However, there were many items still on the menu that I could eat. I was very impressed with their pricing. I was expecting a more expensive bill, but for the quality and selection this price should attract every level of customer. For price, taste and service it was hard not to give them a five star. The portion sizes are not large so it makes you order two-three items which can then get your bill up to $50 per. Easily just order one meal each and itâs affordable. We appreciate...
Read moreThis was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I was excited to try the Woodall for the first time on a Sunday night, despite them not having much on the menu that I eat. I chose this restaurant because I had company in town and thought they'd enjoy the food. The only thing I wanted to eat was the grilled cheese that is ON THE MENU, minus the bacon and chili (so, effectively, paying $13 for a grilled cheese). Mind you, the menu states, "Any dietary needs or restrictions let us know and we will create something special for you...". Ha! That is a joke.
So, we sat down and I ordered a glass of wine. It took 10 minutes for the wine to come, mind you, the place was NOT busy. Then, we placed our order. I wanted a salad as an appetizer, clearly stated so, and the plain grilled cheese. About 20 minutes after we ordered, the waiter came over and said the kitchen couldn't make the grilled cheese. When I pressed him for more info as to why, it was "because they're our of one of the cheeses." I said, "That's ok. Substitute another cheese [they have others on the menu] or just double up." The waiter insisted they would not be "able" to make it. How hard is it to butter some bread, slap some cheese in the middle and grill it? At least the waiter said he'd throw in the fries I was supposed to get with the grilled cheese. More on this...
Ok, so I ordered the beet/goat cheese salad, hoping for some protein. That was a joke. The salad was super small and had hardly any goat cheese on it. Also, the salad I was supposed to get as an app sat in the window for 30 minutes and came out with the other salad. Well, I wasn't going to eat 2 salads. At least he took the app salad off the bill. However, he forgot to have the fries come out and ended up charging us for them until I said, "You said you'd include these for the inconvenience." Then he took it off the bill.
A manager never came over to apologize or to see how things were. My nephews meal also sat in the window for quite a bit and came out with cold french fries. The waiter forgot our order of eggplant fries and the whole service was awful. I am very disappointed with the awful services and inability of the restaurant to makes something for which they clearly had the ingredients dispute the note on their menu. I had high hopes of making this place a regular on my eating out adventures, but because of the sheer incompetence of the manager, kitchen and wait staff, I'll NEVER...
Read moreThe worst part about The Woodall isnât the mediocre food, itâs the feeling of signing the bill and realizing you could have found (much) better food elsewhere at half the price. The Woodall has the special distinction of being one of the few restaurants I was embarrassed I had brought people to.
The prices here are outrageous for what you get. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe, which was $29, and received about 8 gnocchi. For the first time in my life I was actually offended when I received my entree. You are not a Michelin restaurant, by far. If youâre going to charge $29 for a pasta dish it needs to be both a full portion and tasty. The Woodall does neither. I had to ask for extra pepper because I tasted no pepper⊠on my Cacio e Pepe. The dish had what I think were melted leeks on top but were as hard as plastic such that I spit them out or avoided them. Apparently there was also crab in the Cacio e Pepe but I didnât notice it if there was.
The steak was well cooked, but the steak sauce lacked complexity. It tasted as if it had come out of a jar (two people in our party jokingly compared it to A1). The lobster risotto was bad as well, apparently the rice was undercooked. I didnât try it to confirm, I can only deal with so much disappointment in one night. I will say the half chicken was very good, and the smoked salmon dip was good as well. The service and cocktails were fine.
The sides are also extremely overpriced. We ordered the roasted broccoli side which was $8 and got about 10 florets. The broccoli was good though.
For the prices The Woodall charges, look elsewhere. The portion sizes and prices may remind you of Bacchanalia or other tasting menu-type restaurants (seriously.. Bacchanaliaâs pasta is cheaper and they have a Michelin star), but the quality of the food surely wonât. The food tastes like business class airline food (not a compliment) which is unacceptable at this price point.
I will not be returning and will discourage anyone from going to The Woodall if they ask my recommendation, which is disappointing as I would really like an upscale dining option in the Upper Westside. I will say we went here once a year ago and it was not this bad, the head chef apparently has moved on to another project which maybe explains the poor food quality. If youâve got money burning a hole in your pocket come make your own decision. I however, will not make the same...
